The Trade Fair Center Messe München is one of Europe's leading exhibition centres, operated by Messe München GmbH in the Messestadt Riem district to the east of Munich, on the site of the former Munich-Riem airport. Opened in 1998, it hosts major international trade shows such as Bauma, BAU and The smarter E Europe.
Halls and floor space
The site comprises 18 single-storey exhibition halls, for a total covered area of 200,000 m². It also offers more than 400,000 m² of outdoor space used for exhibitions and parking, making it one of the largest exhibition centres in Europe.
Access and transport
The centre is directly served by the underground (U-Bahn) line U2, via the two stations Messestadt West and Messestadt Ost. Line U2 connects the site to Munich's central station (München Hauptbahnhof) without changing. By car, access is via the A94 motorway (München-Riem and Feldkirchen-West exits). Munich Airport is reachable from the city centre on the S1 and S8 lines.
Services
The centre offers car parks, including the Parkhaus West fitted with charging points for electric vehicles, and a dynamic traffic guidance system. Numerous hotels are accessible within Munich and close to the site, which is linked to the city centre by line U2. For the trade shows held at this venue, see the Munich page.
