Key takeaways

  • Petrochymia is a professional trade show for the petrochemical and chemical industries, refining, oil & gas and offshore. It is held in Martigues, in the heart of the Berre, Fos and Martigues industrial basin that the organiser calls the "Triangle d’Or de la Chimie" (the Golden Triangle of Chemistry).
  • Next edition: the 5th, on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 November 2026, at La Halle de Martigues. Open 9am to 6pm on Wednesday and 9am to 5pm on Thursday. Admission is free, with or without an invitation; the website lets visitors create their free badge online.
  • In 2026, the trade show is held as part of Provence Hub Global, an event that brings together three trade shows from the same organiser in the same Halle: Petrochymia, Industrissime (services, equipment and processes, all industries) and Genead (energy). Petrochymia is its largest component: on 3 October 2026, 76 of the 124 exhibitors on the joint list were registered under its banner.
  • Organiser: SAS elféa, a communications agency that has organised and co-organised professional events since 1988. No co-organiser.
  • Held every two years, in even-numbered years, since 2022. Launched in 2018, the trade show has held editions in 2018, 2021, 2022 and 2024; the one announced for November 2020 was postponed to October 2021.
  • The wrap-up of the first edition, in September 2018, published by the organiser: 206 exhibitors, 2,129 visitors and more than four hundred pre-scheduled business meetings. No wrap-up was found on the organiser's websites for later editions.

Who exhibits

Typical profile

The organiser describes a trade show that is both thematic and multi-sector. Its nomenclature, which counts more than a hundred product and trade families, paints the portrait of the suppliers of a major industrial site: pumps, valves and valve fittings; instrumentation, measurement, control, analysis and gas detection; boilermaking, piping, flanges and fittings; explosion protection; non-destructive testing, inspection and certification; insulation, scaffolding, work at height and on-site machining; maintenance; protective equipment and risk prevention; water, waste and air treatment; employment and recruitment.

The exhibitors are suppliers, subcontractors, service providers and equipment manufacturers, joined by institutions, local authorities and clusters. Most of the offering concerns what is needed to build, maintain and secure production units, even though the nomenclature also makes room for raw materials, additives, lubricants and activated carbon.

Notable exhibitors

The 2026 exhibitor list, common to the three trade shows, is published on the Provence Hub Global website; the "Liste des exposants" page of the Petrochymia website links to it. In the data of this list, each registration is attached to one of the three trade shows or to the joint banner.

Among the companies registered under the Petrochymia 2026 label on 3 October 2026 are Schneider Electric France, KSB, Kaeser Compresseurs, R. Stahl France, Bernard Controls, Bray Controls France, Hermetic Pumpen, Sisto Armaturen, Mistras Group, Horiba Advanced Techno France, Trelleborg, Weidmüller, Knauf Insulation, Trane France, Eriks, Westfalen France, Aggreko France, Constructions Babcock Services and Trapil. Under the joint Provence Hub Global banner appear, among others, Siemens, John Cockerill, Eiffage, Snef and Onet.

This list is a snapshot of 3 October 2026, more than seven weeks before opening; it is online and may change.

Quality of the audience

The trade show targets staff in the industrial sectors covered by its themes and in related industries. The list of invited departments, which is not exhaustive, is long and very operational: purchasing, maintenance, inspection, reliability, corrosion, processes, production, instrumentation, HSE and QHSE, laboratory, logistics, projects, investment, management. Plant shutdowns ("arrêts") are named in so many words.

On the promotion side, Provence Hub Global says it invites all industrial networks in the region within a 300 km radius, as well as national economic hubs.

No OJS certification (the OJS website does not list Petrochymia) or third-party audit of attendance was found. The only benchmark found is the 2018 wrap-up reported by the organiser: 2,129 visitors for 206 exhibitors, or about ten visitors per exhibitor.

Events & community

Conference programme

The format announced for 2026 combines conferences, round tables, pitches, activities and workshops, offered by partners and exhibitors on a variety of themes, with free admission. The programme was described as "being drawn up" at the time of writing; the website offers a newsletter subscription to be notified when it goes online.

For reference, the previous edition: the Conferences page of the website still carried the notice "Programme being drawn up" on 14 October 2024, and the programme was online by 7 November 2024 at the latest, twenty days before opening. In its February 2025 version, it listed nine sessions over the two days, five on Wednesday 27 November and four on Thursday 28: smart sensors and the security of critical sites (Axis Communications and Araani), industrial fluids (Xylem), drying of hydrocarbon sludge (Scolari and Fabtec Solutions), resilience to climate risks (Primco), connected safety (Blackline Safety), electrification of petrochemical processes (Schneider Electric), a workshop on MASE certification with MASE Méditerranée Giphise, a joint session on the decarbonisation of industry at territorial level and a session by learners from FORMASEQ (IEQT Marseille) on industrial accidents and natural disasters. Five demonstrations or presentations of equipment, on stands or nearby, were in addition.

Business meetings

The organiser promotes this free service: time savings, profitability and efficiency. A visitor looking for a supplier can pre-schedule meetings on stands with exhibitors free of charge. In 2018, more than four hundred meetings had been pre-scheduled this way ahead of the edition.

For 2026, the online exhibitor list lets visitors request a meeting directly on each exhibitor's page, build a visit list, organise it by aisle and download it as a PDF.

Community & networks

The 2026 edition's website displays a "Recommended and boosted by" banner that brings together economic, industrial and training relays: the GMIF, Groupement Maritime et Industriel de Fos et sa région, the UPE 13, MASE Méditerranée Giphise, Rising Sud, IEQT Marseille, FORMASEQ, the Réseau Mesure and Evolen.

On the media, information-products and employment side, the same banner includes the magazine PDF Industries, the information-products site Pour l'industrie, euroénergie, europétrole, emploi-énergie and EmploiPétrole. Highlights are relayed on the LinkedIn and Instagram accounts of Provence Hub Global.

In 2018, the organiser already named many partners, including the CCI Marseille Provence, CCI France Russie, Port de Marseille Fos, Métropole Aix-Marseille-Provence, pôle Novachim, Provence Promotion, UPE 13, MASE Méditerranée Giphise, IEQT Marseille, Groupement des Entreprises Ouest Étang de Berre and Club des Entreprises de Ouest Provence. Provence Promotion announced on 4 September 2018 that the Provence Industry'Nov call for expressions of interest, led by the Métropole Aix-Marseille-Provence and aimed in particular at energy efficiency and applied industrial ecology, would be presented on a dedicated stand; the official wrap-up of the edition lists Provence Industry'Nov among the partners.

The two neighbouring trade shows of Provence Hub Global broaden the audience. Industrissime presents itself as a professional trade show for services, equipment and processes, across all industries. Genead, the trade show for energy engineering for today and tomorrow, is built around three themes: decarbonisation, environment and safety.

On site: what you need to know

The trade show is held at La Halle de Martigues, on the rond-point de l'Hôtel-de-Ville, a multi-purpose hall of the City of Martigues that also hosts concerts, shows and sporting events. According to its website, it offers 6,500 m² of covered space, a modular floor of 4,620 m² with no pillars at all and 7,000 m² of outdoor area. Petrochymia has been based there since its first edition.

According to the Halle's website, the Aix-en-Provence TGV station is 30 minutes away, Marseille Saint-Charles station 35 minutes and Marseille-Provence international airport 30 minutes (the website does not specify the mode of transport). Martigues is served by the A55 motorway. A free car park of 1,000 spaces is located behind the Halle, supplemented by those of the Francis Turcan stadium and the Théâtre des Salins.

The trade show is open from 9am to 6pm on Wednesday 25 November 2026 and from 9am to 5pm on Thursday 26 November. Admission is free; the badge, which the website offers to create online, is sent as a PDF by e-mail. The trade show's practical information page refers visitors to the Martigues Tourist and Convention Office (martigues-tourisme.com). An official photographer and video team cover the event: taking part constitutes authorisation to use images.

How much it costs to exhibit

SAS elféa does not publish any price list online: exhibiting conditions are obtained via the Contact page of the website. The amounts below are indicative orders of magnitude for a regional two-day professional trade show. They are in no way the official rates of Petrochymia.
Poste de dépenseFourchette basseFourchette haute
Stand (bare or equipped space, indicative)€2,500€9,000
Fit-out, furniture, signage€1,000€5,000
Demonstration equipment: transport and handling€500€4,000
Staff, travel, accommodation (2 days)€1,000€4,000
ESTIMATED TOTAL (indicative, 2 days)~€5,000~€22,000

The website's partners banner mentions a “Customised stands” offer carrying the elféa name: ask about it at the same time as the exhibiting conditions.

Preparing your visit

For the exhibitor

  • Get in touch without delay via the Contact page: more than seven weeks before opening, the joint list already counted 124 registrations, and no registration deadline is published.
  • Check with the organiser that your listing states your trades: the exhibitor list can be filtered by trade, and some listings still declared none at the time of writing.
  • Be ready to receive meeting requests on your stand: each listing in the list offers them, the visitor indicates the preferred half-day and the exhibitor contacts them directly; in 2018, more than four hundred meetings had been pre-scheduled.
  • Ask the organiser about the programme: activities are proposed by partners and exhibitors, and the procedure is not published.
  • Think of the audience of the two neighbouring trade shows: under the same roof, Industrissime (all industries) and Genead (energy) open the trade show up to other industries and to the energy sector.

For the decision-making visitor

  • Create your free badge online before coming; it arrives as a PDF by e-mail, sometimes in the junk folder.
  • Prepare your visit with the exhibitor list: visit list, sorting by aisle, PDF export, request for a meeting on a stand.
  • Allow time for Industrissime and Genead: the three trade shows share the same Halle and the same opening hours.
  • Preferably come on Wednesday, which closes an hour later than Thursday.

Policy & CSR initiatives

The trade show's website has no Commitments section, no CSR policy and no approach to measuring the event's footprint. Its presentation mentions sustainable development issues, but to position the trade show as a place of exchange between professionals, not to describe a commitment by the organiser. The theme is more present at Genead, the neighbouring trade show, which places decarbonisation and the environment among its three themes: that is programme content, not a policy.

At group level, SAS elféa does not publish a CSR programme. The agency, which also designs stands, describes its structures as "modulables, adaptables et réutilisables" ("modular, adaptable and reusable") and states that upcycling is at the heart of every project: a sales argument about its stand offering, which does not amount to an approach for the trade show. No ISO 20121 certification is displayed.

The venue provides no documented guarantee either: the website of La Halle de Martigues, published by the City of Martigues, presents no environmental approach specific to the hall. The blind spot lies in access: the Halle's practical page mentions the A55 motorway and free car parks, including one of 1,000 spaces behind the Halle, without detailing any public transport, and the organiser announces no shared mobility scheme.

Trajectory analysis

The start was strong: for its first edition, in September 2018, Petrochymia brought together, according to the organiser's wrap-up, 206 exhibitors and 2,129 visitors. The public health situation then disrupted the schedule: the edition planned for November 2020 was postponed to October 2021, followed by a third edition as early as November 2022, before the trade show settled into a biennial cycle, in even-numbered years, with 2024 then 2026.

The main blind spot is the absence of any wrap-up found since 2018: no attendance figure was found for 2021, 2022 or 2024 on the organiser's websites. Only the official 2021 exhibitor list, archived in December 2021, gives a benchmark: 163 companies listed. The 76 exhibitors registered under the Petrochymia label on 3 October 2026 cannot be compared directly with the 206 of 2018: the list dates from more than seven weeks before opening, and some of the registrants now come under the joint Provence Hub Global banner.

The most visible shift in 2026 is the joint Provence Hub Global framework. The co-location is not new: according to its pages, Genead had already been held at La Halle on the same dates as Petrochymia in 2022 (23 and 24 November) and in 2024 (27 and 28 November). According to the organiser, bringing together three complementary trade shows in the Étang de Berre area answers a joint request from exhibitors and their customers. Industrissime opens the event to all industries and Genead to energy, for which it makes decarbonisation one of its three themes; the organiser presents the grouping as a means of showcasing each exhibitor. No measure of its effect on attendance or on the number of Petrochymia exhibitors was found on the organiser's websites.

If the biennial rhythm holds, the next edition would fall in 2028; it had not been announced at the time of writing.
