Description
According to GL Events Venues, Eurexpo Lyon is France's second-largest exhibition centre after Paris-Nord Villepinte, with around 140,000 m² of covered space (following the delivery of Hall 7 in 2018) and 51,000 m² of outdoor areas on a 110-hectare site in Chassieu, to the east of the Lyon metropolitan area.
The centre was inaugurated on 29 September 1984 by S.E.P.E.L. (Société d'Exploitation du Parc des Expositions de Lyon) to replace the former Palais de la Foire near the Parc de la Tête d'Or, which had become unsuited to the volume of Lyon's trade shows. The land is owned by the Métropole de Lyon (through the public body COFIL); operations are run by SEPEL (Société d'Exploitation du Parc des Expositions de Lyon), 53% held by the CCI Lyon Métropole and 47% by GL Events, the latter having taken operational control since 2006-2007 within the GL Events Venues division, which also organises several of the site's flagship shows (Global Industrie, Sirha, Solutrans, Paysalia, BePOSITIVE, Rocalia, Eurobois).
Eurexpo hosts more than 50 trade and consumer shows a year along with some sixty corporate events, and ranks among Europe's top 15 exhibition centres according to the CCI Lyon Métropole.
Halls
The centre comprises 7 modular halls interconnected by covered galleries, ranging from 3,208 m² to 14,824 m² depending on configuration, with 3 independent entrances allowing several distinct events to be hosted simultaneously.
Reference surface areas published by GL Events Lyon:
- Hall 1: around 6,393 m².
- Hall 2 (sub-spaces 2.1 and 2.2): sub-space 2.2 of around 6,246 m², 2.1 delivered in 2015.
- Hall 4 (sub-spaces 4.1, 4.2, 4.3): Hall 4.2 of 12,000 m² column-free, favoured by organisers for configurations with no structural constraints.
- Hall 7: around 9,500 m², inaugurated in October 2018, linked to Hall 6 by two footbridges.
- Espace Paul Bocuse: 10,000 m² coupled with an auditorium seating 4,200, delivered in 2011.
- Espace Confluence: 7,000 m² dedicated to the conference format.
The per-hall surface breakdown (Halls 3, 5, 6) is not published by GL Events Venues in open access: quotations and technical plans are available on request from the organiser. 26 meeting rooms from 43 to 654 m² complete the offering, with capacity for 50 to 600 people per room.
