Who exhibits
Typical profile
The exhibition brings together players from across the biomass value chain: suppliers of conversion technologies and equipment (combustion, gasification, pyrolysis, anaerobic digestion, biorefineries), laboratory and measurement instruments, engineering consultancies and certification bodies, project developers, research centres, associations and European projects. The organiser presents it as a meeting place for industry, research and public authorities, with an audience advertised as 65% decision-makers. Its current key figures show more than 75 exhibitors and sponsors, without specifying which edition that figure relates to.
Three formats coexist on the 2027 floor plan: standard stands, a start-up area and a space reserved for European projects. The congress covers six themes, from biomass resources and their sustainability to conversion into bioenergy, biofuels (including sustainable aviation fuels) and bio-based products: this is the scope from which exhibitors and visitors are recruited.
Notable exhibitors
The 2027 exhibitor list has not been published yet. The official 2026 exhibitor list gives a sense of the profile: the European Commission's Directorate-General for Research and Innovation, Italy's ENEA, Synfuels China, Aimplas, Anaero Technology, PtX Lab Lausitz, LECO Europe, MRU, BTG Biomass Technology Group, Poznań University of Technology, and the trade show Bio 360 Expo. A Dutch pavilion brought together eighteen organisations in 2026, including TNO, Wageningen University and Research and the RVO agency, as befits the host country.
The 2026 sponsors were Synfuels China (Gold sponsor), EcoEngineers and LRQA (congress dinner), Repsol, Synfuels China and LCB Forum (SAF round table), Avantium and RWE, as well as the publisher MDPI for the Giuliano Grassi Prize.
Visitor quality
The audience is that of a high-level scientific congress, extended to industry: researchers and universities, manufacturers, project developers, investors, administrations and international organisations. In 2025 in Valencia, the organiser counted 387 participants from companies, 315 from universities and research centres, and 24 institutions, for more than 600 speakers.
The international dimension is strong: 63 countries were represented in 2026. The 2025 report ranked Spain, Italy, Germany and France as the top countries of origin. The 2026 list of participants is published by organisation name, which lets an exhibitor gauge the audience before booking. No independent audit of attendance is published: the figures are the organiser's.
Activities & community
Conference programme
The congress is organised in two strands: a scientific strand, with peer review, oral presentations and posters, and an industry strand devoted to demonstrators, industrial cases and commercial deployment. The 2027 themes cover sustainable resources, sustainability and public policy, the integration of biomass, bio-based products and bioenergy (energy systems, biorefineries, scale-up and financing), conversion into bioenergy, conversion into intermediate carriers and biofuels, and conversion into bio-based materials and chemicals.
The 2027 calendar is published: abstract submission until 30 October 2026, notification to authors from 21 December 2026, author registration in January 2027. Accepted papers are published in the EUBCE proceedings. The 2027 plan includes an exhibition forum, and each project in the European space has a presentation slot there; in 2026, commercial exhibitors also spoke there.
SAF round table and prizes
The high-level round table on sustainable aviation fuels brings together, by invitation, delegations from the European Union, Brazil, Canada, China, Japan, India, the Philippines and the United States. It will take place on 24 May 2027 at the Centre des Congrès de Reims, the day before the opening. The 2026 edition produced a conclusions document, the Key Messages from the SAF Industry.
Several awards are presented during the congress: the Johannes Linneborn Prize, created by the European Commission in 1994, the Giuliano Grassi Prize, which rewards industrial deployment, as well as Student Awards and Poster Awards.
Community & networks
The EUBCE was born in 1980 in Brighton, on the European Commission's initiative, as a purely scientific conference. The technology exhibition was introduced in 1996, in Copenhagen. Today the congress relies on the JRC for the technical programme, on the CBE JU for the industry strand, and on several partner organisations including, according to the website's home page, EUBIA, WCRE, the Biofuture Platform, ETIP Bioenergy, Germany's FNR and the Global Bioenergy Partnership.
On site: what you need to know
The congress is held at the Centre des Congrès de Reims, at 12 boulevard Général Leclerc, in the city centre, a five-minute walk from the historic centre and close to the high-speed rail station, according to the venue operator. The organiser describes a 15,000 m² facility on three levels, including up to 3,700 m² of exhibition space, two auditoriums and ten meeting rooms. On the 2027 plan, the exhibition occupies the first floor and the conference rooms the second, with the main entrance on the ground floor.
For access, the organiser highlights Reims as 45 minutes from Paris and 30 minutes from Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport, both by high-speed train, with motorway links to Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany. The official website does not yet publish opening hours for 2027.
How much does it cost to exhibit?
The website publishes a single rate: the European projects area, at €2,800 until 24 November 2026, then €3,000 from 25 November. The package includes an exhibition space, a counter with logo, two high stools, an exhibitor badge, a project page on the website, a 20% discount on additional congress registrations, social media promotion and a presentation slot at the exhibition forum. For stands, the 2027 plan offers 2 x 2 m, 3 x 2 m and 3 x 3 m formats as well as visibility points; prices are in the exhibitor brochure, available via a form.

Planning your visit
For exhibitors
- Book early: on the 2027 plan published in autumn 2026, some stands were already booked or under option, and the 2026 exhibition had shown as full as early as April.
- For a European project, aim for the reduced rate of the dedicated area, valid until 24 November 2026.
- Submit an abstract to the industry strand before 30 October 2026: this is the most direct way to reach the session audience.
- Consult the named list of 2026 participants to target the organisations to invite to the stand.
For decision-maker visitors
- Watch for the opening of registration, announced for December 2026, and the associated preferential rates.
- Choose sessions from the industry strand programme, where scale-up, financing and markets are discussed.
- For sustainable aviation fuel players, request an invitation to the round table on 24 May 2027.
- Book accommodation in advance: four days of congress in the city centre, including the day before for the round table.
Policy & CSR initiatives
The content of the congress is by nature focused on the energy transition: biomass sustainability, life-cycle analysis, carbon governance and supply chain certification are among its themes. But this content does not amount to an organisational commitment. Neither the EUBCE website nor that of ETA-Florence publishes a CSR policy for the event, a carbon footprint or ISO 20121 certification.
The organiser highlights the choice of Reims as a sustainable destination, the city being presented as one of the greenest in France, committed to mobility, venues and low-carbon tourism. As for the venue, the Centre des Congrès de Reims, operated by Reims Événements, was among the sites covered by the ISO 20121 certification of the GL events Venues network, according to an SGS certificate valid from 17 June 2022 to 16 June 2025; no more recent certificate is published.

Trajectory analysis
Attendance has held at around 1,200 to over 1,400 participants across three editions: 1,304 registrants in Marseille in 2024, more than 1,200 participants in Valencia in 2025, more than 1,400 in The Hague in 2026, with the organisers not using the same definition from one year to the next. The number of countries represented rises from 54 to 55, then 63. The 2026 exhibition showed as full as early as April, and the sale of 2027 stands is already open in autumn 2026.
The underlying shift is the growing weight of industry in a congress born scientific. The industry strand was strengthened in 2026, and the SAF round table, whose first published trace is a tripartite SAF meeting held in June 2024 at the request of China and India, now brings together eight delegations. For a supplier of conversion technologies or advanced fuels, the EUBCE is less a volume trade show than a place where those who fund, regulate and assess the sectors meet.
Reims hosts the EUBCE for the first time according to the official history, which lists the French editions in Orléans (1987), Paris (2005), Lyon (2010) and Marseille (2024). The city of the 2028 edition has not been announced to date.
