Agoris analysis · updated October 2026

Key takeaways

  • Eurocoat is the international trade show and congress for the formulation and production of paints, inks, varnishes, adhesives and glues. It brings together in Paris the upstream side of these industries: suppliers of raw materials, production and laboratory equipment, packaging, services and subcontracting, facing manufacturers and the end-user industries.
  • Next edition: Tuesday 28 to Thursday 30 March 2028, at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, hall 5.2. These dates replace those of 21 to 23 March 2028, announced after the 2026 edition. The badge, which is free, gives access to both the trade show and the congress.
  • Organiser: ETAI (Éditions Techniques de l'Automobile et de l'Industrie), a company of the Infopro Digital group. Co-organiser: the AFTPVA, Association Française des Techniciens des Peintures, Vernis, Encres, Colles et Adhésifs (French association of paint, varnish, ink and adhesive technicians), which organises the congress. The event is held in partnership with the Fipec, Fédération des Industries des Peintures, Encres, Couleurs, Colles et Adhésifs, Résines (federation of the paint, ink, colour, adhesive and resin industries).
  • Biennial frequency: the trade show returns in even-numbered years, in March, in Paris.
  • Results of the 2026 edition, 24 to 26 March: 221 exhibitors and 5,244 participants, 30% of them from abroad. The AFTPVA reports a sold-out show, floor space up 15% and 60 new exhibitors.
  • Official website: eurocoat-expo.com.

Who exhibits

Typical profile

Eurocoat is a suppliers' trade show. Its product classification first covers the raw materials of formulation: pigments, fillers, binders, resins, solvents, additives and colourants for paints and inks; polymers, monomers, waxes and plasticisers for adhesives; additives and blends for construction chemicals. Next come production and laboratory equipment (mixers and dispersers, mills, reactors, tinting machines, colorimetry, filtration, automation, emission treatment), packaging and conditioning, bulk handling, services (engineering, software, training, regulatory and REACH consulting), subcontracting and, further downstream, application and surface-treatment products and equipment.

The offering is largely international. In 2026, more than half of the 221 exhibitors were international and 19 countries were represented, according to the AFTPVA's report. For exhibitors, the organiser highlights access to international markets, in particular Southern Europe and the Maghreb.

Notable exhibitors

The 2028 exhibitor list is open and grows as registrations come in; it can be filtered by theme and by country. On 3 October 2026, it included IMCD France, Univar Solutions, Safic-Alcan, Nordmann France, DKSH France, Stockmeier France, Bodo Möller Chemie France, Groupe Berkem, Synthron, Shamrock Technologies, Lapasse Additives Chemicals and Verder.

The 2026 edition gives a measure of the technical level to expect: its exhibitor workshops included, among others, Omya, Huntsman with Azelis, Advancion, Primient Covation and LUM.

Quality of the audience

According to the official infographic for the 2026 edition, drawn from visitor data and a survey of 137 respondents, 53% of visitors hold a general management or department head position. 36% describe themselves as decision-makers, 34% have a role in prescribing or recommending, and 30% an advisory role. 30% have a purchasing or investment project, directed 64% towards raw materials and 31% towards equipment.

By activity, 38% of visitors work for a manufacturer of paints, inks, varnishes, adhesives or glues, 24% in an end-user coatings industry, 16% for a subcontractor or service provider of the sector and 15% for a raw-materials supplier. Large companies carry weight, with 29% of visitors coming from firms of more than 500 employees, but 40% come from organisations of 50 employees or fewer. 30% of visitors come from abroad, mostly from Europe, then the Maghreb and Asia; Germany, Italy and the Netherlands make up the top three.

The extract of the 2026 visitor list published by the organiser illustrates this mix: paint manufacturers (Akzo Nobel, Hempel, Jotun, PPG, Sherwin-Williams, V33, Unikalo), ink manufacturers (Sun Chemical, Markem-Imaje) and adhesive manufacturers (Bostik, Mapei, 3M France), but also industrial users in aerospace (Safran, ArianeGroup, Air France Industries), automotive (Stellantis, Valeo, Michelin), construction (Saint-Gobain, Holcim, Vinci Construction), luxury (Hermès, Louis Vuitton) and cosmetics (L'Oréal).

No OJS certification is published: the figures are the organiser's own. 85% of respondents to the 2026 survey say they are satisfied and 81% recommend visiting.

Events & community

Conference programme

The Eurocoat international congress is organised by the AFTPVA: companies, competitiveness clusters, research centres and universities present their work there. Fee-paying as recently as the 2022 edition, it has been free since 2024, accessible with the same badge as the trade show, and is held at the heart of the show.

In 2026, it featured 25 conferences and drew 1,029 attendees, according to the AFTPVA. Artificial intelligence, decarbonisation, colour and regulation were among the main topics; the sessions scheduled with the Fipec covered economics, innovation and regulation. The best-attended talk was by the North American firm Orr&Boss Consulting on market trends, and a round table took stock of bio-based products. The presentations made available to AFTPVA members include those of Arkema, BASF, Covestro, Evonik, Unikalo, Vinavil and the Centre de Recherche et de Restauration des Musées de France.

For 2028, the call for papers is announced as forthcoming. The website lists more than 35 conferences and workshops, congress and exhibitor workshops combined.

The Euroclip workshops

Alongside the congress, the Euroclip workshops give exhibitors the floor in short formats, from thirty to forty-five minutes in the 2026 programme, often in English. They present a technical solution, a product or a usage practice.

The 2026 programme, still online, covered for example the drafting of safety data sheets (EPY), AI-assisted materials intelligence (LabV), corrosion inhibitors (Straetmans High TAC), bio-based 1,3-propanediol (Primient Covation), reflective coatings with microspheres and alternatives to talc (Omya), polyurethane floor coatings (Huntsman and Azelis) and CLP labelling. The 2028 programme has not yet been published.

Community & networks

The AFTPVA, a non-profit association active in the sector since 1947, brings together nearly 400 members representing 160 companies: manufacturers and distributors, research centres, universities and consultancies. It runs regional technical days, provides training through its AFPEV centre, and belongs to the European and Mediterranean networks of technicians' associations, FATIPEC and UATCM.

In 2026, the gala dinner was sold out, with around a hundred guests, at the Musée du Vin.

The website's partners page, which does not state an edition, lists notably, on the institutional side, the AFTPVA, the Fipec and the UATCM, and on the press side French titles such as L'Usine Nouvelle, InfoChimie, Formule Verte or Emballages Magazine and Italian specialist journals such as Pitture e Vernici or IPCM.

How much it costs to exhibit

ETAI offers three packages, with no public price list. The “ready-to-exhibit stand”, from 15 m², includes floor space, carpet, structure and partitions, fascia sign, spotlight rail, 3 kW electrical supply, a furniture credit of €40 excl. VAT per m², a 1 m² storage room and daily cleaning. The “pre-equipped stand” includes floor space, structure and partitions, carpet, fascia sign and cleaning. The “bare space stand” is limited to floor marking and cleaning. Prices are provided on quotation.

The general terms of sale for the 2026 edition give an idea of the contract rules: registration fees are non-refundable in the event of cancellation, a cancellation more than 60 days before the opening results in 50% of the order being invoiced, and the entire order if less than 61 days before the opening.

ETAI publishes no price list online: the prices of the three stand packages are provided on quotation. The amounts below are indicative orders of magnitude for a three-day professional trade show of this format in Paris. They are in no way Eurocoat's official rates.

Preparing your visit

For the exhibitor

  • Request a quote early: the 2026 edition was sold out, with floor space up 15% according to the AFTPVA.
  • Choose between the ready-to-exhibit stand, available from 15 m², and a bare space for a made-to-measure stand, anticipating the electrical needs of demonstrations.
  • Tell the two platforms apart: the AFTPVA congress hosts technical and scientific work, through a call for papers announced for 2028, whereas the Euroclip workshops are used to present a solution or a product.
  • Prepare materials in English: more than half of the 2026 exhibitors were international, most of the 2026 workshops were scheduled in English and 30% of visitors came from abroad.
  • Re-read the cancellation terms before signing the participation request.

For the decision-making visitor

  • Order your free badge as soon as registration opens: it covers the trade show, the congress and the workshops.
  • Build your programme around the congress, whose 2026 edition dealt with regulation, decarbonisation, bio-based products and AI with industry players and researchers.
  • Filter the exhibitor list by theme and by country to target the raw-materials or equipment suppliers useful for your formulations.
  • Come with precise issues: substituting a raw material, REACH or CLP compliance, reducing VOCs, scaling up to industrial production.

CSR policy & initiatives

The trade show's website publishes a CSR commitments page structured around three commitments. The first, environmental, details concrete measures: separate collection of cardboard and wood during build-up and dismantling, sorting bins for visitors, aisle carpeted area reduced by 60%, eco-friendly cleaning products, furniture and partitions of equipped stands reused from one edition to the next, wood from FSC- or PEFC-certified suppliers, LED lighting, printing on recycled paper, invitations sent mostly by e-mail, lanyards and badges collected at the exit. Catering providers are committed to sorting, fighting food waste and local sourcing.

The social component refers to the Infopro Digital group and its commitment to the association Nos Quartiers ont du Talent, which helps young graduates from disadvantaged neighbourhoods into employment. The third commitment is a continuous improvement approach. No ISO 20121 certification of the trade show and no quantified carbon footprint is published, and the 60% reduction in carpeted aisles is not tied to a reference year.

The Infopro Digital group publishes an ESG strategy and a 2025 ESG report. It states that it has been ISO 14001 certified since 2015 for its environmental management system in France, a certification renewed in 2024 for three years, whose scope includes the organisation of trade shows, events and training courses. The report specifies, however, that the certified entities are Infopro Digital Holding, the holding company of the group's French entities, and HaynesPro BV, representing 45.2% of the group's workforce: ETAI, Eurocoat's organiser, and the trade show are not named in it.

The venue provides a documented framework: Viparis, operator of Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, states that it was the first events player in the world to be ISO 20121 certified across all its sites, and runs its Better Events strategy.

These organisational commitments should be distinguished from the content of the trade show. Sustainability is certainly present there: a dedicated classification heading for bio-based raw materials, a thematic focus on sustainability and recycling, 2026 conferences on the environmental and low-carbon performance of paints, adhesives and glues, and a round table on bio-based products. These are programme themes, not commitments by the organiser.

Trajectory analysis

Eurocoat has not always been Parisian. In 2014, the official website presented the September edition, the 26th, as a return to Paris “after Spain and Italy”, and then promised a trade show in Paris every three years. The current rhythm settled in afterwards: one meeting every two years in Paris, in spring. For the 2016 edition, the trade show changed its dates following a change to the school calendar, announced in June 2015, and was held from 22 to 24 March; every edition held since has taken place in March. The edition announced for 31 March to 2 April 2020 ultimately did not take place: the official website postponed it to March 2022, and the trade show returned from 29 to 31 March 2022.

Over twelve years, attendance fluctuates around 5,000 participants: 5,515 in 2014, 4,972 in 2022, 5,700 in 2024, 5,244 in 2026. The 2026 decline compared with 2024 contrasts with the growth in supply: 221 exhibitors against 189 and, according to the AFTPVA, a sold-out show with 15% more floor space, with no reference year specified. In addition, the AFTPVA notes that this edition was held the day after the outbreak of the conflict in the Middle East, a subject that took over the discussions given the feared effects on raw-material availability and unstable costs.

The congress has changed format: fee-paying in 2022, it has been free since 2024 and set at the heart of the trade show, with a single badge for the show and the conferences. In 2026, it drew 1,029 attendees, according to the AFTPVA.

The date of the 2030 edition has not been announced.
