Agoris analysis · updated September 2026

Key takeaways

  • Euroforest is the outdoor forestry trade show: a trail of stands and demonstrations laid out through the private forest of Chaumont, in Saint-Bonnet-de-Joux, in Saône-et-Loire, where forestry machinery works in front of visitors.
  • Next edition: the 9th, from Wednesday 16 to Saturday 19 June 2027, in the forêt de Chaumont. New for 2027: a fourth day, the Wednesday, added after the record turnout of 2023.
  • Organiser: the Euroforest association, a not-for-profit association (loi 1901) bringing together its two co-organisers, Fibois Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, the region's forestry and timber trade body, and CFBL, a forestry cooperative.
  • Four-yearly rhythm. Founded in 1995, the trade show was held in 2014, 2018 and 2023: the eighth edition, which the 2018 wrap-up placed around 2022, finally took place in 2023, as the country emerged from the health crisis.
  • Wrap-up of the last edition, held 22 to 24 June 2023: 416 exhibitors and 42,540 visitors, a record. The organiser reports 92% of exhibitors satisfied with this edition.
  • For 2027, the organiser is announcing more than 400 exhibitors and 50,000 visitors expected, across a 120-hectare site covered by a 4 km circuit.

Who exhibits

Typical profile

The entire upstream side of the trade is present: timber harvesting, forestry and transport equipment, gear and small tools, and services for forest owners and managers. The organiser stresses that wood energy now holds a place as important as forest harvesting and silviculture: ahead of the 2023 edition, it announced 80 exhibitors from this sector, or 20% of the total.

The 2023 press pack describes the diversity of players represented: tree nursery operators, private and public foresters, local contractors, forestry operators, cooperatives, sawmillers, managers, scientists, experts, landscapers. Training bodies, trade unions, local authorities and public institutions are added to that list. According to figures published ahead of the 2023 edition, exhibitors came from 75 French départements, and 53 of them from 16 foreign countries, mainly Germany and Italy.

Notable exhibitors

The 2027 list is not yet online: registration, open since 22 June 2026, takes place on the exhibitor platform, and 2023 exhibitors can book the same spot until 30 September 2026, at an equal surface area.

The last complete list is the 2023 one, published in the 2023 press pack. It features the major forestry machinery manufacturers, John Deere, Komatsu Forest and Ponsse, chainsaw and tool makers Stihl and Husqvarna, and a long list of European equipment suppliers: Kesla, Tajfun, Pezzolato, Rabaud, Noremat, Vermeer, Wood-Mizer, Hiab. On the institutions and professional organisations side: the Office national des forêts (French national forestry office), FCBA, CNPF Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, PEFC Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Fransylva, UCFF, Experts Forestiers de France, FNEDT, the Saône-et-Loire fire and rescue service (SDIS) and RTE.

The 2023 press pack also reports on manufacturers' exhibiting approach. Rabaud explained that it was bringing its large firewood processors, stump grinders and branch shredders for live demonstration, with smaller equipment shown statically. Stihl, for its part, presented its presence as a matter of brand awareness among forestry trades.

Quality of the audience

Euroforest is first and foremost a professional and trade event, but it is open to the general public. The organiser makes no secret of it: for the 2014 edition, its analysis showed a predominance of trade visitors, complemented by a more local public of farmers, retirees and other sectors. The 2023 press pack notes that some visitors come to buy or to confirm their investment plans.

Its reach is national: the 2023 statistics show visitors from across France, with a strong showing from the East and as far as Réunion, and visitors from 18 nations, notably Belgian, Swiss and Italian. In 2018, the organiser had counted 2,904 foreign visitors.

No OJS certification or third-party audit of attendance is published: the figures are those released by the organiser after each edition.

Events & community

Conference programme

The 2027 programme has not been published. At the launch day on 22 June 2026, the organiser announced that forest fire defence (DFCI) would be a widely covered topic. Alongside the trade show's historic themes, climate change, innovation, jobs, trades and training, prevention and safety, forest and society, other proposed themes could be added: sector and sovereignty, decarbonisation, artificial intelligence, ecosystem services. The steering committee was due to decide in autumn 2026 and launch working groups with partners.

For reference, the programme announced for 2023 alternated round tables and debates led by industry organisations: UCFF on forest renewal, MSA on the oak processionary caterpillar, La Woodtech on the digitalisation of forestry operations, Fransylva Services on private forest insurance, AgroParisTech, Fibois AuRA, FNEDT on employment in silviculture, and two debates hosted by the organiser on climate change. The 2023 edition was marked by the visit of the Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, who signed a charter on the economic and social vitality of forestry works businesses there.

Demonstrations and competitions

This is the trade show's signature feature. Exhibitors who wish to can book a demonstration option, flagged in the official catalogue, and run their machines under real conditions, in the forest or in a meadow. Since 2023, a clearing laid out between two zones of the trail has hosted the heavy equipment and marquees.

The trade show also hosts competitions that draw a wider audience. In 2023: the Trophées de la machine forestière de l'année (Forestry Machine of the Year Awards), organised by Le Bois International across three categories, « Engins forestiers » (forestry machinery), « Outils forestiers » (forestry tools) and « Équipements forestiers » (forestry equipment), presented during the trade show; a round of the French Horse Logging Championship; the French championship of STIHL TIMBERSPORTS®, competitive woodchopping, with a broadcast announced on the L'Équipe 21 channel. The 2027 competitions programme has not yet been announced.

Community & networks

The trade show is supported by the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté regional prefecture, the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté Region, the Saône-et-Loire Département, the Le Grand Charolais community of communes, France Bois Forêt, MSA, Crédit Agricole and Les Vignerons des Terres Secrètes. Le Bois International was among the partners of the 2023 edition.

Between editions, the association also runs a second event, ForestINNOV, a trade show for services and innovations in the sector launched in 2016 in Charnay-lès-Mâcon, which held an edition in 2025.

The organiser presents Euroforest as the leading French forestry trade show and the second-largest at European level, and states its ambition to make it, in 2027, the biggest event in the sector in Europe. The benchmark of the genre remains Swedish: the organiser itself has described Elmia Wood, in Jönköping, as the largest and oldest forestry demonstration fair in the world.

For a machinery exhibitor, Euroforest belongs to the family of outdoor demonstration trade shows, alongside Innov-Agri, which presents itself as a full-scale testing ground for agriculture, or Tech&Bio with its outdoor demonstrations across 18 hectares. The downstream side of the timber trade, meanwhile, is found indoors at Eurobois, the leading trade show for the timber industry, at Eurexpo Lyon, whose next edition is announced for 1 to 4 February 2028.

On site: what you need to know

The trade show is set up in the forêt de Chaumont, a private forest in Saint-Bonnet-de-Joux, in the Charolais area. Stands are spread along a marked-out circuit, divided into zones, alternating woodland and meadow; the 2027 plan provides for two visitor entrances, two car parks and shuttle-bus access. In 2023, shuttle buses already linked the car parks to the trade show.

Access: A6 motorway, then N79 and D79 or N70 and D7. Mâcon and Le Creusot TGV stations, 30 minutes away. Lyon Saint-Exupéry airport, 1h30 away, and Geneva airport, 2 hours away. GPS coordinates shown by the organiser: 46°29'34'' N, 4°24'48'' E.

Road access is the sensitive point for an open-field trade show of this size. In 2023, the organiser acknowledged difficulties on the Friday, linked to an exceptional security arrangement connected to an event in the centre of Saint-Bonnet-de-Joux; smooth road and logistics access is one of the stated objectives for 2027, and the fourth day is also meant to contribute to it.

The 2027 visitor opening hours and entry terms are not yet published on the official website. Contact: info@euroforest.fr.

How much it costs to exhibit

The amounts in this table come from the « Tarification des stands » (Stand pricing) sheet for Euroforest 2027 published on the official website, in euros excluding VAT. The two totals combine the lightest and heaviest option for each item; they include neither machine transport, staff nor accommodation, which fall outside the organiser's pricing schedule.

Per square metre, the rate falls with the surface area: around 44 € excl. VAT at 25 m², 40 € excl. VAT at 100 m², 37 € excl. VAT at 300 m². For a machinery manufacturer, the real expense lies elsewhere: transporting and running machines in the forest for four days, with the team who operates them. Booking deadline shown: 31 January 2027.

Preparing your visit

For the exhibitor

  • Book before 31 January 2027, the deadline shown, and aim earlier if the spot matters: on a forest circuit, the position along the trail determines footfall.
  • Make use of the open days in October and December, included in the administration fee, to scout the spot on the ground.
  • Plan for at least 75 m² to run a machine: that is the minimum surface required for the demonstration option.
  • Plan ahead for transporting machinery and setting up on natural ground: tent or structure, electrical connection and decking are ordered separately.

For the decision-making visitor

  • Consider the Wednesday, the day added in 2027 partly to spread out attendance and ease access to the site.
  • Identify the demonstrations that matter in advance: the official catalogue flags the exhibitors offering them.
  • Bring walking shoes and outdoor clothing: the trade show is toured on foot, through forest and meadow, on a 4 km circuit.

Policy & CSR initiatives

The trade show's content is largely focused on environmental issues facing forests: adapting to climate change, stand renewal, wood energy, and, in 2027, forest fire defence. These are programme themes, not an organisational commitment.

At event level, the Euroforest website publishes no CSR policy, no carbon footprint and no ISO 20121 certification. At co-organiser level, CFBL displays sustainable forest management certifications, PEFC, via a group scheme, and FSC, as well as ISO 9001: 2015 certification, and publishes a gender equality index of 87/100 calculated in 2026. No CSR programme specific to Fibois Bourgogne-Franche-Comté was found.

The venue offers no documented guarantee: it is a private forest temporarily fitted out, with no event-site operator publishing a site-specific approach. The format has its own specific emission sources, tens of thousands of visitors travelling to a rural site, machinery transport, which the organiser does not quantify; the shuttle buses between the car parks and the trade show are the only documented mobility measure.

Trajectory analysis

Attendance is rising in steps, already at a high level: 39,400 visitors in 2014, 41,898 in 2018, 42,540 in 2023, a rise of around 1.5% between the last two editions despite a five-year gap and the health crisis. Supply grew faster than the audience: from 369 exhibitors in 2018 to 416 in 2023, around 13% more.

This relative levelling-off of attendance explains the 2027 decision. The trade show appeared to be running up against the capacity of a rural site over three days: adding a Wednesday aims both to attract more visitors and to spread out the flow, with a stated target of 50,000 visitors. The announced circuit grows to 4 km, up from close to 3 km described in 2023.

The four-yearly rhythm is both a constraint and an asset. It concentrates demand, which explains the fast fill rate: more than half of the 2023 exhibitors had confirmed as early as October 2022. It also gives manufacturers time to present genuine new products from one edition to the next. For a forestry supplier, missing an edition means waiting four years for the next one.

The one after 2027 is not yet dated.
