Key takeaways

  • Midi Mat Côte d'Azur is the regional trade show for equipment for construction, transport, industry and the environment on the Côte d'Azur: construction machinery, lifting, handling, vehicles, rental, materials and services, with hands-on trials in an outdoor area.
  • Next edition: Friday 19 to Saturday 20 March 2027, at the Hippodrome de la Côte d'Azur, 2 boulevard Kennedy in Cagnes-sur-Mer. Open from 9:00am to 10:30pm on Friday, with a late-night opening, and from 9:00am to 3:00pm on Saturday.
  • New for 2027: the Salon de l'Artisan takes place at the heart of Midi Mat, on the same dates and at the same site, with a single badge. Midi Mat remains the main show; the Salon de l'Artisan adds building tradespeople and private individuals with projects.
  • Organiser: JDL REGIONS, a company of the JDL group. No co-organiser.
  • Annual frequency. The trade show was born in 2024 in Mandelieu-la-Napoule. The 2026 edition was announced at the Hippodrome de Cagnes-sur-Mer, which also hosts the 2027 edition.
  • Free entry and parking. Exhibiting costs €500 excl. VAT for 9 sq m indoors and €800 excl. VAT outdoors, as a guarded bare space.

Who exhibits

Typical profile

The official website describes an offering on three tiers: national brands, their regional dealers and local players, side by side. Six families of exhibitors are listed: manufacturers and dealers of construction, lifting, handling and working-at-height machinery and of light and heavy vehicles; rental companies and bodybuilders; accessory suppliers and equipment makers, from buckets to PPE; materials and energy, with merchants, quarries and recycling; tradespeople and companies at the Salon de l'Artisan; and services and training, from financing to federations.

The offering is organised around eight themes, from site equipment to rental, including safety and training, accessibility and working at height, depot equipment and electric and hydrogen innovations. The trade show works as a regional distribution relay: the organiser presents it as a lever for manufacturers who want to activate and retain their network of distributors in the South.

Notable exhibitors

The 2027 exhibitor catalogue is still being compiled: at the time of writing, the page said exhibitors appear there as soon as their file is validated, and no name was listed yet.

For the record, when the very first edition was announced in December 2023, the organiser named among the brands expected through their regional distributors JCB, Manitou, Kubota, Liebherr, Komatsu, Hinowa, Heli, Renault Trucks, Mecalac, Lafarge, Toyota, Sclavo and Audemard. These names relate to the 2024 edition and do not presume the presence of these brands in 2027.

Visitor quality

The trade show targets equipment users: earthworks contractors, rental companies, hauliers, crane operators, forklift drivers, dealers, lifting contractors, logistics managers, recyclers, mechanics, site managers, manufacturers and local authorities, to whom the arrival of the Salon de l'Artisan adds masons, electricians, roofers and plumbers.

Access is not restricted to professionals. The Practical information page speaks of free entry for professionals, but the visitor FAQ states that the show is open to the general public, with some exhibitors reserving their terms for professionals on presentation of proof. The presence of private individuals is intended: they come to submit a building-works project to the Bourse aux Chantiers.

No OJS certification or third-party audit of attendance is published. The only size figures displayed are orders of magnitude from the organiser, common to the three shows in the series: more than 100 exhibitors and partners, more than 200 brands represented and more than 4,000 professional visitors expected per edition, presented as targets and not as a result specific to Cagnes-sur-Mer. The only published result for the Côte d'Azur is that of the first edition, in February 2024 in Mandelieu-la-Napoule: 2,780 visitors, 70 stands and more than 200 brands represented.

Events & community

Programme

The published 2027 programme is indicative and shared by Midi Mat and the Salon de l'Artisan; the detailed programme of each show is sent to badge holders one week before opening. The announced highlights are as follows.

  • The Chantier Démo: machines, aerial platforms and forklifts in action in the outdoor area, with hands-on trials booked in the app and supervised by the brand's demonstrator.
  • Le Garage: carriers, vans and bodywork, electric and combustion, to try out.
  • Les Étiquettes Jaunes: show-price offers, reserved for visitors and easy to spot on the stands.
  • The Bourse aux Chantiers: project owners submit a request, passed on to exhibitors in the relevant trade.
  • The Job Truck: job offers from exhibitors, job dating, apprenticeship centres and career change.
  • The Ring des Artisans: timed challenges in front of the public, qualifying rounds in the morning and final in the afternoon.
  • L'Apéro des Pros: on the first evening, during the late-night opening.

The Village Rénov' hosts twenty-minute talks every afternoon. The announced topics cover the real cost of electric and hydrogen machinery, the choice between buying, renting and financing a fleet, lifting and working at height, recruiting machine operators, e-invoicing and, for private individuals, renovation grants in 2027.

Community & networks

The professional organisations listed as partners are FFB Alpes-Maritimes, CAPEB, the Chambre de Métiers et de l'Artisanat PACA and the Renovert network. The City of Cagnes-sur-Mer and the Hippodrome de la Côte d'Azur appear among the host sites and cities.

On the media side, the show relies on the titles of its group, Manumag, Le Mille Pattes Magazine and JDL TV, as well as Radio VINCI Autoroutes and the outdoor advertiser Cityz Media. It also publishes its own magazine, MDM Magazine, distributed at all three shows.

The series has two other stops in 2027: Midi Mat Occitanie, on 31 March and 1 April 2027 at Diagora in Labège, and Midi Mat Provence at the Parc des Expositions d'Avignon, whose dates had not been published at the time of writing. The organiser places its first two dates before Intermat, to present new products in the regions ahead of the major Paris event.

On site: what you need to know

The show is held at the Hippodrome de la Côte d'Azur, 2 boulevard Kennedy in Cagnes-sur-Mer, a seaside site. The stands are split between indoors and an outdoor area, where the machinery demonstrations take place.

By car, take the A8, exit 48 Cagnes-sur-Mer, then follow signs to the Hippodrome; parking on site is free, and the spaces close to the entrances fill up quickly in the morning. By train, Cros-de-Cagnes station, on the Marseille-Ventimiglia TER line, is a ten-minute walk away. Nice Côte d'Azur airport is 10 km away, about fifteen minutes by taxi or TER. The organiser advises booking accommodation early, as March is a busy period on the Riviera.

Visitor hours: 9:00am to 10:30pm on Friday 19 March 2027, and 9:00am to 3:00pm on Saturday 20 March. Exhibitors can access the site from 7:30am; set-up takes place the day before, Thursday 18 March, from 8:00am to 7:00pm. The visitor badge is free and obtained online: it avoids the queue and gives access to both shows. The site is wheelchair accessible, with reserved parking spaces near the entrances. Catering on site throughout the day and during the late-night opening. Only assistance dogs are admitted in the halls.

How much does it cost to exhibit

Only stand prices are published by the organiser: €500 excl. VAT for 9 sq m indoors, €800 excl. VAT for 9 sq m outdoors, per show, as a bare space with night-time security, catalogue listing, access to the Bourse aux Chantiers, badges and a communication kit. The other lines are indicative orders of magnitude for a two-day regional trade show. They are in no way official Midi Mat prices.

Published discounts: 15% off with the 3-show Pass (Cagnes-sur-Mer, Toulouse and Avignon booked at once) and 10% off for a booking made before 15 December. A 30% deposit confirms the booking, the balance is due 60 days before the show; at 60 days or less, the full price is due in case of withdrawal.

Price is central to the positioning: the organiser contrasts its €500 excl. VAT for 9 sq m with an order of magnitude of more than €10,000 for a pre-fitted stand of the same size at a major national trade show in Paris, with hotel and machinery transport on top. The comparison is the organiser's own and sets a guarded bare space against a pre-fitted stand, two services of a different nature. Booking is done online, with the space chosen on the plan, and the contract is sent within 24 working hours. The detailed terms are on the Exhibit page.

Planning your visit

For exhibitors

  • Choose between indoor and outdoor according to your equipment: the outdoor area adjoins the Chantier Démo and allows hands-on trials, the argument that brings visitors in.
  • Book before 15 December for the 10% discount, and consider the 3-show Pass if your network also covers Occitanie and Provence.
  • Prepare an Étiquette Jaune offer to declare in the catalogue: this is the mechanism designed to trigger on-the-spot purchases.
  • Define your area of operation for the Bourse aux Chantiers, whose forwarded projects are included in the stand price.
  • Plan set-up the day before, on Thursday 18 March, and a team available until 10:30pm on Friday.

For decision-maker visitors

  • Take your badge online in advance and book your trial slots at the Chantier Démo in the app.
  • Come on Friday morning if you are after the Étiquettes Jaunes: according to the organiser, the best offers go in the morning.
  • Use the Friday late-night opening to come after your day on site.
  • Compare buying, renting and financing on the spot: manufacturers, dealers and rental companies are gathered in the same aisles.

CSR policy & initiatives

Transition topics feature in the content of the show: an Innovations and energy theme devoted to electric and hydrogen equipment, electric vehicles to try at Le Garage, and a talk announced on the real cost of electric and hydrogen machinery in the face of low-emission zones. The 2026 press release also highlighted recycling, controlled demolition and the circular economy.

This content is not an organisational commitment. Neither the Midi Mat website, nor that of the JDL group, nor that of the Hippodrome de la Côte d'Azur publishes a CSR policy, a carbon footprint or an ISO 20121 certification at the time of writing.

The organiser emphasises proximity ("Sans faire 800 kilomètres", that is, "without travelling 800 kilometres"), without linking it to a carbon footprint. Access by train from Cros-de-Cagnes station, ten minutes' walk away, is a real alternative to the car.

Trajectory analysis

The show has changed the scale of its promise. Before the first edition, the organiser announced 12,000 visitors and more than 150 exhibitors; the result published in February 2024 reports 2,780 visitors and 70 stands. The targets displayed for 2027, more than 4,000 professional visitors and more than 100 exhibitors and partners per show, are closer to that outcome. No figures have been published for 2025 or 2026, so it is impossible to say whether that step has been taken.

The show has also changed venue and calendar. The first two editions were held in February at the Centre Expo Congrès in Mandelieu-la-Napoule, the first during the Mimosa festival. For 2026, the organiser announced a shift to late March and to the Hippodrome de Cagnes-sur-Mer, which the 2027 edition also retains: a site that offers the outdoor space needed for machinery demonstrations. No result attests that the 2026 edition took place. For 2027, the calendar includes a Saturday for the first time: the previous editions, 2026 as announced included, fell on weekdays.

The most structuring change is the arrival of the Salon de l'Artisan. The core target remains the civil engineering, transport or industrial company renewing its fleet, but the show widens its audience to building tradespeople and their customers. For a dealer or a rental company, this means more prospects; for a professional buyer, busier aisles and a more mixed public.

The dates of the 2028 edition had not been announced at the time of writing.
