Key takeaways
- 49th edition of the Salon Régional de l'Agriculture de Tarbes, from 5 to 8 March 2026 at the Parc des Expositions de Tarbes, across 24,000 m² of exhibition space.
- Organiser: SEAE (Société d'Encouragement à l'Agriculture et à l'Élevage), an association based at 20 place du Foirail in Tarbes, chaired by Jean-Louis Cazaubon and directed by Cédric Abadia. Co-organised in institutional partnership with the Chambre d'agriculture des Hautes-Pyrénées, the Région Occitanie, the Département des Hautes-Pyrénées, the Ville de Tarbes, Crédit Agricole, Groupama and the MSA.
- Edition without cattle: the cattle sector will not present any animals in 2026, owing to the health situation linked to lumpy skin disease (LSD). Cattle breeders will remain present for sales sessions (fat cows sold by open bidding on the Thursday) and for discussion. Sheep, equines and goats take pride of place in Hall 1.
- 315 exhibitors announced, more than 300 animals on display and in competition (target communicated by the organisers), around sixty farm producers and artisans, 9 restaurants and 23 refreshment stands, and daily gourmet workshops.
- A regional, general-public trade show with a strong professional dimension (livestock and machinery sectors), founded in 1977 (source: Wikipedia); the 48th edition in March 2025 set a record with 76,748 visitors.
Who exhibits
Typical profile
A general-purpose regional agricultural trade show for the South-West of France, blending the professional sector (livestock, machinery, cooperatives, agricultural banking and insurance, renewable energy, employment and training) with the general public (farm producers, gourmet village, family activities). The exhibitor profile covers the six major regional cattle breeds usually present (Blonde d'Aquitaine, Aubrac, Limousine, Bazadaise, Charolaise, Gasconne des Pyrénées), although no animals will feature in 2026, as well as the local sheep breeds (Tarasconnaise, Barégeoise, Lourdaise, Auroise, Montagne Noire), draught horses and goats.
Notable exhibitors
Exhibitors visible on the official 2026 page by category: agricultural machinery (Krone France, among 43 equipment exhibitors), cooperatives and trading (Vivadour), renewable energy (Reden Technique, among 9 exhibitors), banking and insurance (Banque Populaire), employment and training (La Pyrénéenne). Nearly 44 farm producers and artisans are registered. The full list and categories are available on the official exhibitors page.
Visitor quality
A pronounced B2B-B2C mix. On the professional side: breeders, farmers, cooperative technicians, and students from regional agricultural colleges (the Lycée Jean Monnet in Vic-en-Bigorre is involved via the Ovinpiades). On the general-public side: families from the Bigorre area, a regional audience from Occitanie and Nouvelle-Aquitaine, and school groups (dedicated programme). Visitors are predominantly regional, with strong roots in the Hautes-Pyrénées and neighbouring départements.

What's new in 2026
- Edition without cattle: a decision taken by the organisers and breeders in the face of the LSD health risk. Cattle breeders remain involved via the Thursday open-bidding sale and their presence at the show, but without presenting animals.
- Focus on sheep, equines and goats in Hall 1, which concentrates the live competitions and presentations.
- International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (declared by the UN): a cross-cutting theme explored notably through the départemental stand and the shepherd/herding-dog demonstrations.

Preparing your visit
For the exhibitor
- 9 months out: get in touch with SEAE (05 62 34 87 44, 20 place du Foirail, Tarbes) to book a stand and obtain the up-to-date price list.
- 6 months out: choose the hall (Hall 1 livestock, Hall 3 institutional, Hall 4 thematic, halls 2 and 5 general) and brief on the stand.
- 3 months out: team accreditations, accommodation (book early, as March sees several events concentrated in Tarbes), and a brief on seasonal products.
- 6 weeks out: confirm logistics for machinery / animal deliveries (for the sectors concerned), register for competitions, and finalise stand activities.
For the decision-making visitor
- Full-price pass €7 at the gate; online ticketing is available to avoid queuing at the weekend (Saturday and Sunday are the busiest days).
- Thursday is the quietest trade day: useful for machinery buyers, cooperatives and agricultural banking.
- Friday to follow the Ovinpiades and the sheep competitions (10am-2pm), Saturday for the organic-farming conference at 3pm and the draught-horse handling competition at 3pm.
- Allow 4 to 6 hours to cover the 24,000 m² (5 halls + ring), and at least half a day if your aim includes the competitions and the gourmet village.
Policy & CSR initiatives
The Salon Régional de l'Agriculture de Tarbes does not publish a dedicated CSR page on its official website. Its sustainability dimension is carried, in practice, by the show's commitment to short supply chains: 60 farm producers and artisans present, the promotion of the Bienvenue à la ferme label (official partner), the Légumineuses d'Occitanie pavilion in Hall 4, and the organic-farming conference on the Saturday. The 2026 theme "International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists" (UN) is integrated through the shepherd and herding-dog demonstrations and the educational game from the Département des Hautes-Pyrénées on mountain pastoralism. The 2026 decision to hold the show without presenting cattle, motivated by LSD health prevention, reflects a precautionary approach for the sector.
How the show has evolved
| Edition | Visitors | Exhibitors | Breed / focus | Trend |
|---|---|---|---|---|

| 2026 (49th ed.) | target >76,500 | 315 | Sheep, equines, goats (no cattle) | Edition under LSD health constraints |
- Figures for 2022-2024 are drawn from Wikipedia, La Semaine des Pyrénées and tarbes-infos.com. The 2025 figure (76,748 visitors) was communicated by SEAE / management. The 2026 targets were communicated by the organisers.
- The show was founded in 1977 according to Wikipedia. The theoretical discrepancy with the 49th-edition numbering in 2026 (which would correspond to 50 years) is probably explained by uncounted editions (interruption or re-sequencing), to be confirmed with SEAE.

Trajectory analysis
The Salon Régional de l'Agriculture de Tarbes is the major agricultural gathering of the Pyrenean South-West, with steadily growing visitor numbers and a new record in 2025 (76,748 visitors, against ~74,800 in 2024). The format remains robust over time: a strong regional positioning, deep roots in the Hautes-Pyrénées, dialogue between breeders and the general public, and a mixed B2B-B2C economic model. The 2026 edition is marked by an unprecedented break: the absence of cattle owing to the LSD health risk, which is affecting all the major French agricultural shows (the Salon International de l'Agriculture in Paris took the same decision in 2026). Holding the show without its flagship sector demonstrates the diversity of the offering (sheep, equines, goats, machinery, farm producers) and the organisers' determination to preserve the event for the other sectors. With an announced budget of €750,000 and €45,000 in public subsidies, the show remains a territorial asset openly supported by local institutions (Région, Département, Ville, Chambre d'agriculture).
