They bring together the Intersolar Europe, ees Europe, Power2Drive Europe and EM-Power Europe conferences, with 2,600 participants expected, and cover the core topics of the energy system: solar and storage markets, sector integration, electric mobility and grid management.
Awards and prizes
The "The smarter E AWARD" recognises innovations in energy and mobility across five categories: Photovoltaics, Energy Storage, E-Mobility, Smart Integrated Energy and Outstanding Projects. Applications are open to exhibitors of The smarter E, Intersolar, ees, Power2Drive and EM-Power events worldwide. For 2027, the application window opens on 1 December 2026 and closes on 12 March 2027.
The ceremony is held on the eve of the trade shows' opening, as part of the Opening Night at the ICM München: in 2026, it took place on 22 June. The date of the 2027 ceremony has not yet been published.
Community and networks
The alliance brings together the communities of the four trade shows around a shared theme, the integrated and renewable energy system.
Review of the 2026 edition: it was held from 23 to 25 June 2026 under the motto "The Energy Future is Renewable", with the special exhibition "Renewables 24/7" as its centrepiece, supported by a wide range of European and German sector federations. It occupied 19 halls and the outdoor area.

For the exhibitor
- 9 months out: book your space, as demand is high (in 2025, 90% of the halls were booked seven months before opening).
- 3 months out: submit an application for "The smarter E AWARD" if relevant (2027 application window: 1 December 2026 to 12 March 2027).
- 1 month out: finalise your stand, logistics and client invitations.

For the decision-maker visitor
Target the four trade shows in advance according to your priorities (solar, storage, EV charging, energy management), with a single badge covering all of them. Plan the conference sessions on 7-8 June 2027 at the ICM and exhibitor meetings across the three days of the exhibition.
Policy & CSR initiatives
The smarter E Europe has a dedicated sustainability page built around three pillars: responsible visitor participation, exhibitor practices (stand construction, mobility, catering) and venue commitment. The organiser states: "Nachhaltigkeit ist für uns kein Ziel, sondern ein Weg" (sustainability is not a goal but a path). Among the measures detailed: wooden and reusable stand structures, removal of carpeting in entrances and aisles since 2021, predominantly digital marketing materials, and reusable dishware and bottles.
The host venue Messe München runs a structured sustainability programme: 100% green electricity supply, one of the largest rooftop photovoltaic installations in Europe (since 1998, more than 1 MWp), geothermal heating for halls C5-C6, a Net Zero 2050 target for the entire group, signatory of the Net Zero Carbon Events (NZCE) initiative and member of fairpflichtet (since 2014). No ISO 20121 certification specific to the event was identified in open access at the time of writing.

Trajectory analysis
The smarter E Europe has consolidated its status as the largest European platform in the energy sector by aggregating four specialist trade shows under a common banner. The 2026 edition brought together 2,650 exhibitors from 52 countries, more than two-thirds from outside Germany, and around 105,000 visitors from 163 countries: a slight softening in volumes compared with 2025 (2,737 exhibitors, around 107,000 visitors), but a growing base of visitor countries of origin, from 157 to 163.
On the calendar side, the trade show moved from early May 2025 to late June 2026, then returns to early June in 2027 (8-10 June). The organiser has already published the 2028 dates, from 20 to 22 June, which settles the event on a June slot. The volumes expected for 2027, more than 2,600 exhibitors and more than 100,000 visitors across 200,000 m², are announced at the same level as the previous edition.
