French construction is going through a decade of profound change: decarbonisation imposed by regulation, the rise of low-carbon building and energy retrofitting, pressure on skills, and the digitalisation of building sites. The trade show landscape reflects these shifts, and some long-standing events are seeing their centre of gravity move while new formats emerge.
For a decision-maker in the sector, whether a sales director looking to exhibit or a buyer keeping an eye on technology, choosing where to invest time and budget is no longer straightforward. Is Batimat still the national must-attend it once was? Should you favour Artibat to reach tradespeople, Interclima for HVAC engineering, Eurobois for the timber industry now undergoing a major reconfiguration? The answer depends on your commercial target, your budget and your maturity in the market.
This page brings together our analysis of the leading construction and civil engineering trade shows on the French calendar, with a look at regional and European events. For trade shows labelled "Agoris Certified", you will find a reasoned verdict, an exhibitor budget range, an analysis of the ecosystem of brands present and our verification of the promises made by the organisers. For the others, the essential factual information, pending their progress through our full editorial cycle.
Our conviction: in a sector where exhibiting easily costs more than 40,000 euros for a stand with decent visibility, it is better to invest an hour in genuinely understanding the trade show before signing the order form. And for a visitor, it is better to know which door to knock on before blocking out two days in the diary.
The benchmark trade shows in France
Five trade shows structure the national calendar of French construction. They do not address the same audience and do not play the same role: confusing them is the first mistake in trade show strategy.
Batimat is the benchmark generalist trade show. Held every two years at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles by RX France (Reed Expositions), it is the cornerstone of the Mondial du Bâtiment, bringing together Batimat, Interclima and Idéobain under one roof. The 2024 edition gathered 1,473 exhibitors (including 559 new ones, +15% compared with 2022) and more than 135,000 visitors over four days, along with 350 conferences and 230 award-winning innovations. Next edition: 28 September to 1 October 2026. Trend: focused on energy retrofitting and decarbonisation, which take up a growing share at each edition.
Artibat is the largest regional construction trade show in France, but its reputation extends well beyond the west: it attracts exhibitors and visitors from across the country. Held every two years in Rennes (Parc des Expositions) by CAPEB Pays de la Loire since 1988, its 2025 edition brought together more than 1,100 exhibitors and 45,000 trade visitors across 65,000 m². It covers five poles: structural work, finishing work, technical trades, equipment and heavy civil engineering machinery. Next edition: October 2027. Trend: a growing emphasis on innovation and robotics (the 400 m² "Collab'Zone" dedicated to AI and robotics was one of the flagship novelties of 2025).
Interclima, the trade show for HVAC engineering, heating and ventilation, takes place jointly with Batimat in Paris. Co-organised by RX France, it targets installers, design offices and manufacturers of thermal and air-handling solutions. In the context of the energy transition and the obligation to retrofit heating systems, Interclima gains strategic centrality at each edition.
Intermat is the international trade show for construction and infrastructure equipment and techniques. Held every four years in Paris (Parc des Expositions de Villepinte), it stands out for its strong focus on construction machinery, civil engineering and infrastructure, with a high level of international representation. It brings together nearly 1,200 exhibitors and visitors from 160 countries.
BePositive has established itself as the national trade show dedicated to the energy transition and building performance, held in Lyon (Eurexpo) every two years. It brings together professionals committed to energy retrofitting, low-carbon building, systems efficiency and renewable energy applied to buildings. Next edition: 23 to 25 March 2027.
Regional trade shows: proximity and grassroots presence
Regional trade shows are not watered-down versions of the major national events. They follow a different logic: geographical proximity, easier access for SMEs and tradespeople, more clearly defined commercial targets. For a manufacturer whose market is regional, a trade show like Nordbat or Batinov can offer a better return on investment than a stand at Batimat.
Nordbat (Lille, every two years) is the benchmark construction trade show in the Hauts-de-France. Its 2026 edition welcomed more than 400 exhibitors and 18,140 trade visitors: a 7% increase on the previous one. It is reputed for its friendly atmosphere, with an integrated programme of conferences and workshops. Next edition: 15 to 17 March 2028, Lille Grand Palais.
Batinov (Lyon, every two years) positions itself on digital technologies and new technologies applied to construction: BIM, site management, digitalisation. It is a more specialised trade show, useful for players keeping an eye on technology in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
Other regional events round out the calendar according to geographical area: Artibat covers the west, the CAPEB's Rencontres des Métiers du Bâtiment rotate between several cities (the next edition will be held in Marseille), and Architect@Work runs in several French cities (Paris, Bordeaux, Nantes) to connect architects and suppliers in a more intimate format. For players in landscaping and outdoor design, Paysalia (Lyon, biennial) is the benchmark sector event.
The major European construction trade shows
For French companies developing internationally, or for procurement departments tracking major global trends, three European trade shows are unmissable.
Bauma (Munich, every three years) is quite simply the largest construction trade show in the world. Organised by Messe München since 1954, its 2025 edition brought together nearly 600,000 visitors from more than 200 countries and 3,601 exhibitors from 57 nations, across more than 550,000 m² of exhibition space. Its speciality: construction machinery, building equipment and civil engineering machinery. A must for all players in heavy equipment. Next edition: April 2028.
BAU (Munich, every two years in January) is the world's leading trade show for architecture, materials and building systems. Also organised by Messe München, it brings together around 2,250 exhibitors and 250,000 visitors. Its profile is more oriented towards building and materials innovation than Bauma, with an audience of architects, engineers and project developers. Next edition: 11 to 15 January 2027.
ISH (Frankfurt, every two years) is the world's leading trade show for building services: plumbing, heating, air conditioning, sanitary equipment. Organised by Messe Frankfurt, it is the European benchmark for HVAC engineering players, complementing Interclima for the French market.
Worth noting for France: these major German trade shows are often covered by delegations organised by the professional federations (FFB, CAPEB, UNICLIMA), which can make participation easier for SMEs that would rather not manage the organisation on their own.
Beyond the trade show: formats, events and communities
Construction trade shows are no longer limited to aisles of exhibitors. Recent editions have massively developed parallel formats that radically change the nature of the event.
Conferences and forums. Batimat 2024 offered nearly 350 speaking slots across fourteen themed stages. The Renodays programme occupied a dedicated space on the energy retrofitting of housing, with workshops and conferences on thermal performance, financial aid and new regulations. Artibat, for its part, offers a dense, hands-on technical programme, with live demonstrations in real conditions that are part of the trade show's identity.
Competitions and awards. The Innovation Awards of the Mondial du Bâtiment reward the most remarkable solutions at each edition: 230 award-winning innovations in 2024 from 229 entries. For exhibitors, this accolade has become a communication tool in its own right before, during and after the trade show.
Immersive themed spaces. Batimat 2024 notably offered Climate Sense, an experience simulating site conditions at +50 °C in the context of global warming. Artibat 2025 launched the Collab'Zone, entirely dedicated to AI and robotics in construction. These spaces are becoming visitor magnets and strong signals of the sector's priorities.
Complementary formats outside trade shows. Some organisers have developed standalone events that no longer wait for the major biennial edition. This is the case for RX France, which launched the Renodays forum (7 and 8 October 2025) as an independent event between two editions of Batimat. BIM World Paris is another example: 100% dedicated to digital technology and the digital transformation of building, it has established itself as an unmissable annual event for players in digital modelling and site data management.
Professional communities outside trade shows. The major federations (FFB, CAPEB, UNICLIMA, SYNAMOME) organise congresses, technical days and regional events throughout the year that structure the sector's professional networks. For an exhibitor or a visitor, these events are often more useful for local business development than the major national trade shows.
What Agoris covers on construction
Our construction catalogue covers the main French trade shows with two levels of qualification. Agoris Certified entries offer a reasoned verdict, an analysis of the exhibitor ecosystem, a verification of promises and a realistic stand budget range. Standard entries list the essential factual information pending their full editorial treatment.
Our conviction remains intact: in a sector where a poor choice of trade show can cost 50,000 euros and six months of team mobilisation for zero return, quality information is not a luxury. It is a prerequisite.
