  • Travelling: the forum changes city every year. Bilbao (2015, inaugural edition), Bari, Barcelona, Malmö, Oslo, Istanbul, Paris, Palma, Rome (2024), New York (2025), Barcelona (2026).
  • Official tagline: "an independent, international and non-for-profit platform featuring women's views and voices on major food issues".

Who attends

Typical profile

Parabere Forum brings together professionals from the wider food ecosystem: Michelin-starred chefs, sommeliers, scientists, anthropologists, producers, farmers, food journalists, academics and policymakers. The forum mobilises speakers from all five continents around the major issues facing food.

The event draws on the Parabere database, created in 2015, which today brings together more than 8,000 women from the food sector across the world (source: parabereforum.com/parabere-database).

Notable speakers

The 2026 programme (Barcelona, 11th edition) features, among others, Carme Ruscalleda and Martina Puigvert (Michelin-starred chefs), Charles Spence (professor, University of Oxford), Dan Saladino (BBC journalist), Olia Hercules (Ukrainian chef and author) and Monica Berg (bartender). The full list of speakers is published on parabereforum.com.

The speakers for the 2027 edition in Nice will be announced as the event approaches.

Activities & community

Conference programme

The forum is structured around two days of talks, debates and panel discussions built around an annual theme: "The Politics of Food" in 2024 (Rome), "Food Design" in 2025 (New York), "Disruption" for the 2027 edition in Nice. The detailed programme is published online a few weeks before each edition (source: parabereforum.com).

Parabere Grant

The forum awards the Parabere Grant, a bursary intended to support women in the food sector. The mechanics and the recipients are detailed on the dedicated page of the official website.

Parabere Care Award

The forum also presents the Parabere Care Award, which recognises best practice in team management within hospitality: fair conditions, ethics and well-being at work. Recent recipients: Monica Berg (2024), Jess Murphy (2025), Alice Delcourt (2026).

Community and networks

Beyond the annual event, Parabere runs an international network of food professionals and a partner programme (Partners Club). The partners highlighted for recent editions include Tayer, Di Martino, SPYCA and Petra, as well as the Generalitat de Catalunya and Marca Catalunya for the Spanish edition.

On site: what you need to know

  • Format: a two-day forum, entirely focused on talks and networking. Registration is in the attendee's name.
  • Ticketing: access is by paid ticket (various categories depending on the edition). The terms and prices for the 2027 edition are published on parabereforum.com.

Planning your visit

  • Keep an eye on the opening of registration at parabereforum.com (tickets for previous editions went on sale a few months before the event).
  • Consult the programme and the list of speakers, published in advance, to target the right sessions.
  • Set aside both full days: the forum is designed as a continuous experience, not a one-off visit.
  • For women in the food sector, look into the terms of the Parabere Grant.

How the forum has evolved

Created in 2015 in Bilbao by Maria Canabal, culinary journalist and founder of the forum (source: farmersjournal.ie), Parabere Forum set out with the mission of giving women a voice on the major issues facing food.

The forum is travelling and changes city every year: Bilbao (2015, 1st edition), Bari (2016, 2nd), Barcelona (2017, 3rd), Malmö (2018, 4th), Oslo (2019, 5th), Istanbul (2020, 6th), Paris (2021, 7th), Palma (2022, 8th), Rome (2024, 9th, "The Politics of Food"), New York (2025, 10th, "Food Design"), then Barcelona (2026, 11th edition). The 2027 edition in Nice will mark the 12th edition, on the theme "Disruption", and the first to be held in France since Paris in 2021.

Recent editions do not publish audited audience figures. The forum brings together more than 8,000 food professionals in its international database (source: parabereforum.com).

Unless otherwise stated, all factual data in this listing comes from the organiser's official website (parabereforum.com).
