Key takeaways
- EGAST 2028 will return from 19 to 22 March 2028 at the Parc des Expositions de Strasbourg-Wacken: the 21st edition, two years after the 20th, which celebrated the trade show's 40th anniversary (March 2026).
- Organised by Strasbourg Événements, a semi-public company managed by GL Events (which entered the capital in 2014 as the day-to-day management operator), EGAST remains the leading biennial event for the hospitality and catering sector in the Grand Est: equipment, gastronomy, agri-food, services and tourism, with strong roots in the food trades of Alsace, Lorraine and Champagne-Ardenne.
- 2026 edition results: 24,512 professional visitors, 276 exhibitors, 424 brands, 24,000 m² of exhibition space, 950 young people welcomed at the Schools' Morning. Target set by the organisers for 2028: to cross the 25,000-visitor mark.
- 12 competitions and trophies over the 4 days: Trophée Émile Jung, Trophée des Brasseurs, Trophée Jean-Marc Kieny, Trophée Thomas Marie, Concours Henri Huck, Concours de la Meilleure Choucroute Garnie d'Alsace, the Grand Est selection rounds of the Meilleur Sandwich / Meilleure Baguette de Tradition Française / Meilleur Croissant au Beurre, plus the Mondial des Vins Blancs Strasbourg and the European Red & Rosé Wine Contest in the pre-opening phase.
- Strictly trade audience, free badge subject to prior registration. Employment & training forum at the Palais de la Musique et des Congrès on the final day. CSR programme structured around the Restos du Cœur and a reduction in carpeting of 80% versus 2024.
Who exhibits
Typical profile
A general trade show for the hospitality, catering and food trades of the Grand Est. Five families structure the offering: Equipment (kitchen equipment, refrigeration, washing, front-of-house equipment), Gastronomy (products, fine groceries, wines, spirits, tableware), Agri-food (processors, food industries, regional distributors), Services (POS software, restaurant ERP, hygiene, training) and Tourism (hotel equipment, bedding, reception). Strong presence of bakery-patisserie, butchery-charcuterie and brewing.
Notable exhibitors
276 exhibitors in 2026 representing 424 brands. EGAST is positioned as a regional and cross-border trade show: a majority of visitors from the Grand Est, with a notable presence of professionals from Germany, Belgium and Switzerland. The official exhibitor list can be consulted at egast.eu/liste-exposants.
Visitor quality
A strictly trade audience admitted on a named badge (chefs, restaurateurs, hoteliers, bakers, pastry chefs, butchers, caterers, hospitality and catering managers, distribution buyers, hotel and public-sector purchasing directors, brewers, wine merchants, trainers, hospitality and catering students at the Schools' Morning).

Preparing your visit
For the exhibitor
- 12 months out: application file via the official exhibitor form (exposant.gl-events.com/egast), choosing a family (Equipment, Gastronomy, Agri-food, Services, Tourism).
- 9 months out: possible commitment to a competition as a partner (Trophée des Brasseurs, Trophée Émile Jung), application to the Savourez l'Alsace pavilion if you are a regional food-industry company, request to join the Business Sourcing Meetings.
- 6 months out: stand brief, selection of products to display, scheduling of culinary stage demonstrations.
- 3 months out: team accreditation, accommodation in Strasbourg (book early, as March is a busy congress season in Strasbourg).
- 6 weeks out: activation of matchmaking tools, social-media communication to announce your presence, sales brief for the 4 days (note the Monday, which closes at 9pm, an evening business slot).
For the decision-maker visitor
- Badge registration required in advance (free, but named and subject to professional validation).
- Allow 1 to 2 days depending on your profile: 1 day for a hospitality and catering operator focused on a single segment (equipment, wines, products); 2 days for a multi-family purchasing department.
- Target the competition slots to meet chefs and artisans giving demonstrations (programme published on the official website closer to the date).
- Employment & training forum: Wednesday only, at the PMC, to recruit for kitchen, front-of-house or patisserie roles.
- For food-industry / contract-catering buyers: aim for the Tuesday (Business Sourcing day in 2026, to be reconfirmed for 2028).
CSR policy & initiatives
EGAST has built a CSR approach that was visible at the 2026 edition, with an "EGAST s'engage" page on the official website. Three confirmed pillars.
Food solidarity: partnership with the Restos du Cœur. At the 2026 edition, 200 meals and 1,450 unconsumed food products were redistributed, and €10,000 was donated to the association through the Charity Gala Dinner (a new format in 2026).
Reducing the material footprint: in 2026, an 80% reduction in installed carpeting versus the 2024 edition, a direct marker on material spend and the show's end-of-life impact.
Professional integration and transmission: Schools' Morning (950 young people in 2026), Employment & training forum co-run with France Travail, local employment missions and the Région Grand Est, partnerships with apprentice-training centres and regional catering colleges. Several competitions are structured around transmission (the Inter-CFA Trophy, the Concours Henri Huck at vocational baccalaureate level, the students' category at the Trophée des Brasseurs).
No Net Zero Carbon Events label or ISO 20121 certification was publicly communicated on the EGAST website as of June 2026.

Trajectory analysis
EGAST is a senior regional trade show: 40 years in 2026, 20 editions held, solid roots in the Grand Est and well-managed cross-border reach (Germany, Belgium, Switzerland). The model is stable: biennial in even years, 4 days, Parc Expo Strasbourg-Wacken, a strictly trade audience on a free badge.
The 2026 edition marked a qualitative step up on three fronts: a denser programme (12 competitions, including the new Inter-CFA and Meilleur Flan Pâtissier Grand Est formats), a stronger CSR stance (Charity Gala Dinner in aid of the Restos du Cœur, -80% carpeting, Régis Marcon's patronage centred on transmission), and a broader wine ecosystem with the arrival of the European Red & Rosé Wine Contest alongside the Mondial des Vins Blancs Strasbourg.
The challenge for 2028: to hit the 25,000+ visitor target while maintaining a deliberately regional stance (no shift towards a national format like Sirha Lyon or Equip'Hotel Paris). The recurring pairing with the international wine competitions at the Palais de la Musique et des Congrès consolidates Strasbourg's place as the Grand Est's hospitality, catering and oenology rendezvous, without direct competition from the major national trade shows, which are held in odd years.
Unless otherwise stated, all factual data in this listing comes from the organiser's official website (egast.eu).
