Key takeaways

  • VITeff is the only international trade show dedicated to sparkling wine technology: vine growing and winemaking equipment, pressing, vat rooms, bottling, disgorgement, corking, labelling, consumables and services.
  • Organiser: EFFEVENT, a simplified joint-stock company (SAS) set up in 2019 by CCI Marne Ardennes, Nord Est Expansion, NGPA and UCIA Expos. The trade show was run by the CCI de la Marne until 2019.
  • Frequency: every two years, after the grape harvest, in odd years. Next edition from Tuesday 12 to Thursday 14 October 2027 at Le Millesium in Épernay.
  • Opening hours announced for 2027: 9.30am to 7pm, with a late-night session on Wednesday 13 October until 9pm.
  • Results of the 18th edition, held 14-16 October 2025: 350 exhibitors and 18,000 visitors. This was the first edition shortened to three days, down from four previously.
  • Three exhibition zones: the Hall Services, a 6,500 sq m marquee facing Le Millesium, the Hall Viti-Vini inside the building (more than 110 exhibitors across 2,500 sq m in 2025), and the Air libre (open-air) sector for bulky equipment.
  • The Prix à l'innovation competition, organised by Epernay Agglo Champagne, is reserved for exhibitors: five categories, €2,000 per winner. Entries open at the end of 2026.

Who exhibits

Typical profile

VITeff's scope covers the whole sparkling wine production chain, from vine pruning through to shipping, and its division into three sectors says a good deal about who comes to exhibit.

The Hall Services is made up largely of service providers: general-purpose buildings and products (energy, utilities, environment, hygiene, logistics, IT, maintenance), consultancy, communications, oenological analysis laboratories, and then consumables for bottling and sale, bottles, corks, muselets and outer packaging.

The Hall Viti-Vini, formerly the Hall Champagne, is the sector for heavy equipment: pressing, harvest processing, vat rooms and analysis equipment, bottling machinery, and products for winemaking and wine treatment. Vats, presses, labelling machines and gyropalettes are the main draws there. The Air libre sector covers the outdoor area, where straddle tractors, robots and autonomous machines, tractors and trailers are displayed on large stands.

Notable exhibitors

The organiser does not publish a named list for the coming edition. The companies taking part are listed on the official VITeff website, which shows participants from the most recent edition. The only benchmark provided is the volume: 350 exhibitors in 2025 as in 2023, 340 in 2021.

EFFEVENT's report on the 2023 edition sheds light on the trade show's make-up: the Sparkling Lab marquee hosted 17 start-ups under the La WineTech banner and nearly 20 innovative project leaders backed by Grand E-nov+ and Inno'Vin, alongside 27 exhibitors from the Passerelle des métiers à l'emploi (employment pathway scheme). Part of the offering therefore comes from young companies, not only established equipment manufacturers.

Visitor quality

The trade show presents itself as a marketplace connecting companies in the sparkling wine industry with French and international buyers, and also welcomes institutional visitors and members of the scientific community.

Its position in the calendar does the filtering: VITeff is held at the heart of the Champagne vineyards, just after the grape harvest, when investment decisions for the following season are being prepared. The typical visitor is a vineyard manager, a cellar master, a technical manager at a house or cooperative, or a bottling plant manager. No OJS certification or third-party audit of attendance is published: the figures available are the organiser's own.

Programme & community

Conference programme

The Agora is the trade show's conference and tasting space. Positioned at the heart of the Hall Services, it hosts close to 30 conferences, panel discussions and tastings of 45 minutes each, open to all without registration, covering innovation and new consumer expectations, international markets, CSR, employment and wine tourism. An exhibitor can book a one-hour slot there to present a topic of their choice: this is a separate option from the stand, and one of the few editorial visibility levers the trade show offers.

The detailed 2027 programme had not been published at the time of writing, the dedicated page stating it would be announced later. The 2023 edition remains the best documented point of comparison: around thirty sessions led by 80 speakers, on decarbonising the industry, energy efficiency in Champagne's related industries, vineyard robotics, exports and the jobs of tomorrow, with Italy as guest of honour.

Awards

The Prix à l'innovation competition is organised by Epernay Agglo Champagne as part of VITeff. The organiser is announcing the 19th edition of this award for 2027, reserved for exhibitors, with winners chosen by a jury of industry and business professionals.

Five categories carry a prize of €2,000 each: the innovation award in the "Viticulture" category, the innovation award in the "Oenologie" category, the innovation award in the "Innovation Marketing/Services" category, the innovation award in the "Innovation technologique process, produits et consommables" category, and the innovation award in the "Responsabilité Sociétale des Entreprises (RSE)" category.

At the last edition, 32 entries were submitted and 5 awards presented during the opening ceremony. The CSR category was introduced in 2023; that year, the common thread among winners was low-tech, simple, low-cost, low-energy solutions, often adaptable to existing equipment.

Community & networks

Employment and training form the trade show's second non-commercial pillar, with the Passerelle des métiers à l'emploi (employment pathway scheme) and a recruitment area detailed further below. EFFEVENT also runs two other initiatives in the same industry: the Sparkling Wine Forum, an annual symposium alternating between France and other producer countries, whose 5th edition is announced for 23 March 2027 at the Village by CA in Reims-Bezannes, and Sparkling News, an information platform on sparkling wine R&D.

In the French wine and vine industry calendar, VITeff holds a place no one else occupies. The two general viti-vinicultural equipment trade shows, SITEVI in Montpellier and Vinitech-Sifel in Bordeaux, cover the whole vineyard sector on a biennial basis; Euroviti, in Angers, holds the Loire Valley's technical days; on the commercial side, Wine Paris and Millésime BIO structure the year. VITeff does not replace any of them: it deals with one specific technical constraint, secondary fermentation and everything it requires upstream and downstream.

On site: what you need to know

The trade show is held at Le Millesium, Épernay's main venue: the building houses the Hall Viti-Vini, the Hall Services marquee is set up facing the venue and the Air libre sector is laid out outside. The access address given by the organiser is 1 rue Jean Bagnost, 51530 Pierry, a town bordering Épernay.

The site is 140 km from Paris and around thirty kilometres from Reims, at the junction of the A4-E50, A26-E17 and A34-E46 motorways, roughly an hour from Paris-Charles de Gaulle. Épernay's SNCF railway station, which runs direct daily services to Paris and Reims, is 2.5 km away, and lines 2 and 3 of the MOUVEO network serve the Caserne stop, a 5 to 10 minute walk away. The venue has a free 2,000-space car park, with marked spaces reserved for people with reduced mobility; the organiser states that halls, stands and catering areas are accessible.

Ticketing is open online, with purchase also possible on site without cash payment. Accommodation is concentrated in and around Épernay: booking ahead is explicitly advised.

How much it costs to exhibit

EFFEVENT does not publish an exhibitor price list for 2027: sales are handled by quotation. The amounts below are indicative orders of magnitude for a professional trade show of this format, intended to help frame a budget, and are in no way VITeff's official rates.
Poste de dépenseFourchette basseFourchette haute
Pre-fitted 18 sq m stand: partitions, carpet, electricity, lighting€4,500€9,000
Equivalent bare space option, fitted out by a stand contractor€5,000€16,000
Air libre (open-air) pitch for bulky equipment or machinery€2,000€10,000
Transport, handling and set-up of equipment€1,000€8,000
On-site team, accommodation and catering (3 days, Épernay)€3,000€9,000
Communications, documentation and stand activities€1,000€5,000
ESTIMATED TOTAL (indicative, pre-fitted 18 sq m stand, 3 days)~€10,000~€31,000

Two factors specific to VITeff weigh on the quotation: the pre-fitted formats of 9, 18 or 27 sq m, which set the scale of your presence from the outset, and the Air libre sector, which shifts the budget for vineyard equipment manufacturers towards machinery transport and positioning rather than fit-out. The Agora conference slot is a separate option, also on quotation. Actual rates available on request from EFFEVENT, on +33 (0)3 26 09 24 72.

Preparing your visit

For exhibitors

  • Settle on your sector before your stand size, then decide between a pre-fitted stand (9, 18 or 27 sq m) and bare space: the latter shifts design work onto a stand contractor and lengthens the planning schedule.
  • Consider entering the Prix à l'innovation if your offering is genuinely new: the competition is reserved for exhibitors and entries open at the end of 2026.
  • Look into booking a slot on the Agora: at a trade show where the conference space is central and open without registration, this is the main way to be visible beyond your stand.
  • Prepare a live demonstration rather than a brochure, and plan your team's accommodation ahead: Épernay's hotel capacity is limited and the trade show takes over the whole town.

For decision-making visitors

  • Allow more than one day if your project involves both cellar equipment and vineyard equipment: the three sectors are physically separate.
  • Buy your ticket online and print your badge in advance.
  • Identify Agora slots as soon as the programme is published: sessions are short and cover topics that shape upcoming investment decisions.
  • Make the most of the trade show's scientific density: the presence of researchers and oenologists, unusual at an equipment trade show, lets you weigh an independent opinion against a sales pitch.
  • Book accommodation well in advance, or plan to stay in Reims.

CSR policy & initiatives

No dedicated CSR commitments page is published for VITeff, and no ISO 20121 certification of the event is displayed. The same applies to the organiser: EFFEVENT publishes neither a CSR policy nor a carbon report for its events, and to the venue: neither Le Millesium nor its operator Rivaj Group documents any environmental approach. Nothing is therefore verifiable today about the event's footprint.

What the trade show does document falls into two areas. The first is the inclusion of CSR in its recognition scheme: since 2023, the Prix à l'innovation competition has included a dedicated category, carrying the same €2,000 prize as the others, which rewards the exemplary actions taken by a company in the industry to limit the negative impact of its activity and improve its human, social or natural environment. CSR also features among the Agora's announced themes. This is a programme topic and an award criterion, not to be confused with a commitment by the event itself on its own footprint.

The second area is social, and this one does genuinely involve the organisation. Each edition, VITeff builds an employment and training scheme with Epernay Agglo Champagne, France Travail, the Mission Locale and Cap Emploi: a recruitment area staffed throughout the trade show, job dating sessions in the Agora, Jobibox for video CVs, advance publicity for exhibitors' recruitment needs, and the Passerelle des métiers à l'emploi bringing together local training providers, with activities for students, jobseekers and people retraining. In an industry facing a lasting labour shortage, this is a concrete, recurring commitment.

Trajectory analysis

VITeff resumed its rhythm smoothly after 2019: the 16th edition opened on Tuesday 12 October 2021 at Le Millesium, and the biennial odd-year cycle has not shifted, running 2021, 2023, 2025, then 2027.

The underlying trend is the addition of content around the exhibition itself. At the end of 2022, EFFEVENT announced a 400 to 500 sq m Agora space at the centre of the trade show, with 80 to 100 seats and continuous programming, along with a marquee dedicated to innovation, the Sparkling Lab. The 2023 results validated the bet, to the point that the Agora has since been moved even closer to the centre. The motivation is explicit: Cyril Egoroff, EFFEVENT's director, justified this reinforcement in 2022 by the risk of Italy or Spain positioning themselves on the same segment, and by the need for Champagne to remain the world showcase for sparkling wines. The trade show is also an instrument of industry policy, hence the presence of the CCI, the Épernay urban area authority and public employment bodies in its programme.

The point to watch is the audience. Reported attendance rose up to 2023, with more than 20,000 visitors in 2021 and then more than 21,000 in 2023. The 2025 edition reports 18,000, with the number of exhibitors unchanged at 350. The shortened calendar, from four days to three, explains the drop in the cumulative total and mechanically concentrates footfall, which is rather favourable for an exhibitor. The short format is becoming the standard, since 2027 repeats it: stand planning needs to be calibrated for a dense, brief exhibition.
