Key takeaways

  • CHR Pro Expo Grand-Est is a regional trade show for the hotel, restaurant and catering trade, held at Parc des Expositions de Colmar, in central Alsace, between Strasbourg and Mulhouse.
  • It was called CHR Pro Expo Alsace up to the 2025 edition: the name Grand-Est is used from the 2027 edition, and the trade show's former website now redirects to chrpro-grandest.fr.
  • Next edition: the 4th, from Sunday 7 to Tuesday 9 March 2027. The 2027 opening hours have not yet been published; in 2025, the trade show was open from 9.30am to 6pm.
  • Organiser: Artecom Group, a communications and events agency run by Michel Arena, which also runs the other CHR Pro Expo trade shows. No co-organiser.
  • Biennial frequency, in odd-numbered years since 2023. Editions held: March 2019, March 2023, March 2025.
  • Last published set of figures: from the first edition, in 2019, with 4,271 visitors and 140 exhibitors across 8,000 m². For 2023 and 2025, no attendance figures are published on the official website or in the trade press consulted.

Who exhibits

Typical profile

The 2019 and 2025 editions were organised into four areas: food and drink, equipment and fit-out, management and sales, and hospitality and service. For 2027, the official website details the categories present: food wholesalers, drink distributors, brewers, roasters, producers, manufacturers, catering equipment, tableware, furniture, fit-out, tills and service providers.

The 2027 pre-registration form adds three entries that say a lot about the target audience: bakery and pastry, hotels, and wine growers. This last point is telling in Colmar, the capital of Alsace wines: a vineyard can meet restaurateurs from its own region directly there.

Notable exhibitors

The official website does not publish any exhibitor list, for 2027 or for past editions: the only entry point is the exhibitor registration form, which leads to a contact with the organiser.

The names available come from the exhibitors themselves and date from previous editions: Providif, a company based in Florange, in Moselle, publicised its presence in 2025; Squarea, a specialist in large terrace parasols, exhibited in 2023. Ahead of the first edition, in 2019, the organiser announced the participation of brands present in the region, such as Heineken, Meteor, Carola, Lisbeth and Wattwiller waters, Sati coffee and Grand'Mère pasta. None of these presences is confirmed for 2027.

Visitor quality

The trade show targets operators: restaurateurs, hoteliers, bakers, caterers and food-trade craftspeople, coming to compare suppliers, request quotes and progress a project for their establishment. Visitor registration for 2027 had not yet opened at the time of writing.

In 2019, the 4,271 visitors came from across the region and neighbouring départements. This figure was communicated by the organiser and picked up by L'Hôtellerie Restauration; no OJS audit is published.

Programme & community

Conference programme

The 2027 programme is not published. The only documented programme is that of 2019: round tables held on the Monday with the CCI Alsace Eurométropole (the Alsace Eurométropole Chamber of Commerce) on efficiency, recruitment and employer branding, and a jobs area run by L'Hôtellerie Restauration with around twenty recruiters from the sector.

Competitions and demonstrations

The official website highlights culinary demonstrations on the stands. In 2019, chefs belonging to the Étoiles d'Alsace, including Marc Haeberlin (L'Auberge de l'Ill) and Matthieu Koenig (L'Arbre vert), cooked in public there.

For 2025, two culinary competitions were announced ahead of the trade show, one on a menu, the other on an Alsace dish, in partnership with the Étoiles d'Alsace. No report published after the edition confirms their results, and nothing has yet been announced for 2027.

Community & networks

At its launch in 2019, the trade show was backed by the UMIH du Haut-Rhin (the Haut-Rhin hospitality trade union), the CCI Alsace (Alsace Chamber of Commerce) and the Alsace chefs' association, as well as by the newspaper L'Hôtellerie Restauration, its media partner. The partners for the 2027 edition are not published.

The trade show belongs to a family: Artecom Group also runs CHR Pro Expo editions in Corsica, Avignon and Rungis. It is a local trade show, which the trade press described as early as 2019 as more modest than EGAST in Strasbourg or the Sirha Lyon. The logic is not the same: people come to Colmar to find their regional suppliers in a single day, not for the national showcase.

The trade show is present on Instagram and on Artecom Group's YouTube channel, which has published a teaser for the 2027 edition and a photo recap of the 2025 one.

On site: what you need to know

The trade show is held at Parc des Expositions de Colmar, avenue de la Foire aux Vins. In 2019, it occupied two halls.

By car, from both Strasbourg and Mulhouse, access is via the A35 motorway followed by signage for the Parc des Expositions. By train, Colmar station is connected at least once an hour to Strasbourg and Mulhouse, and a signposted cycle route runs from the station to the park, which has free bicycle parking. Bus line D of the Trace network serves the site. The nearest airports are EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse, 62 km away, and Strasbourg, 66 km away.

How much it costs to exhibit

Artecom Group does not publish a price list: the pre-registration form offers stand sizes from 6 to 108 m², and terms are communicated by the organiser after the request. The amounts below are indicative orders of magnitude for a regional trade show of this format. They are in no way the official rates of CHR Pro Expo Grand-Est.
Poste de dépenseFourchette basseFourchette haute
Bare or equipped pitch, 9 to 18 m² (indicative)€1,500€5,000
Stand fit-out: furniture, signage, electricity, water for demonstrations€800€5,000
Tasting products and demonstration equipment€300€2,000
On-site staff, travel, accommodation and meals (3 days)€800€3,500
INDICATIVE TOTAL (3 days)~€3,400~€15,500

For a regional exhibitor, the item that swings the budget is the demonstration: a stand offering tastings or running equipment needs connections, consumables and one extra person. Actual rates to be requested from the organiser.

Preparing your visit

For exhibitors

  • Choose your stand size early: the form offers modules from 6 to 108 m², and placement is easier to negotiate when the request comes in early.
  • Plan for tastings or demonstrations: this is what the website highlights and what operators come looking for.
  • Work on your regional client list before the trade show: visitors are mostly from Alsace and neighbouring départements, and personally inviting your own clients carries real weight.
  • Bear the calendar in mind: the trade show starts on a Sunday, a day when many restaurateurs are working.

For decision-making visitors

  • Come with a specific project, an opening, a renovation or a change of supplier: the format allows several quotes to be compared in a single day.
  • Take advantage of the Monday and Tuesday, days when restaurants are frequently closed, for a quieter visit.
  • Watch for visitor registration to open on the official website, not yet open at the time of writing.

CSR policy & initiatives

Neither the trade show's website nor Artecom Group's publishes a CSR policy, a carbon footprint report or ISO 20121 certification. Neither has a Commitments or Sustainability section.

As for the venue, the Parc des Expositions de Colmar's website does not present a formalised environmental approach either. It does, however, document concrete mobility elements: a signposted cycle route from the station, free bicycle parking, bus service and an electric vehicle charging point. A public accessibility register is also available online.

The regional format inherently reduces long-distance travel compared with a national trade show, but this point is not covered by any figures published by the organiser.

Trajectory analysis

The trade show was born in 2019 from a simple bet: bring the CHR Pro Expo model, already proven in Corsica in 2015 and 2017, to Alsace. Ahead of the first edition, the organiser announced a trade show that would not exceed 150 exhibitors; it brought together 140. In the post-event review, the question remained open as to whether a second edition would follow as soon as 2020 or two years later.

In the end, the second edition did not take place until 2023, after a period spanning the health crisis, and the trade show then settled into odd-numbered years, in March: 2025, and now 2027. The switch from the name Alsace to Grand-Est for 2027 broadens the geographic promise, with no change of city or venue.

The weak point remains transparency: since 2019, no attendance figures have been published, and the only 2025 exhibitor figure is an announcement made before opening. For an exhibitor weighing up their budget, it is therefore necessary to ask the organiser for the 2025 results before committing.
