Decoration and interior home living make up a sector in which France plays a leading role on the world stage. The calendar is structured around Maison & Objet, the biannual benchmark, and several events covering professional decoration, contract, interior textiles and furnishing.
The benchmark trade show
Maison & Objet Paris (biannual, January and September, Paris Nord Villepinte, SAFI/RX France) brings together 2,300 to 2,500 brands, 60% of them international, and more than 70,000 trade visitors per edition. The September edition coincides with Paris Design Week.
Specialised trade shows
Paris Design Week and Paris Déco Off complement Maison & Objet. Domotex (Hanover, Messe) is the European benchmark for floor coverings. IMM Cologne (Koelnmesse) covers European furniture. Equipbaie Metalexpo (Paris, Paris Expo Porte de Versailles) remains a key event for joinery and closures.
The European benchmark trade show
Salone del Mobile (Milan, annual, April, FederlegnoArredo) is the world's trade show for furniture and design, with more than 300,000 visitors. For French brands targeting high-quality international distribution, Milan is essential.
Beyond the trade shows
The decoration sector is rooted in the culture of the permanent showroom. Networks of specifiers (interior architects, decorators) are often more effective than stands for high-end brands.
