The French agricultural sector boasts a trade show calendar as varied as its industries: from arable farming to animal production, taking in viticulture, machinery and organic farming along the way. The trade shows cover the entire chain, from the livestock breeder to the equipment manufacturer, and from the regional production basin to European agritech.
The key question for an exhibitor: is my market national or regional, and am I selling to the farmer or to the cooperative? The answer entirely determines the choice of trade show. For a visitor keeping an eye on the sector's innovations, the question is different: should one attend the general trade show or the specialised event for one's own industry?
The leading trade shows in France
The Salon International de l'Agriculture (SIA) is the largest agricultural event open to the general public in Europe, organised every February at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles by Comexposium on behalf of CENECA. It brings together around 1,000 exhibitors across 9 pavilions and more than 600,000 visitors over nine days. Its purpose is as much political as commercial: it is the event for French food sovereignty, attended by every government minister. The 2026 edition, held under the theme "Générations, Solutions !", ran from 21 February to 1 March. For professional exhibitors, the SIA'PRO, a 100% professional trade show for agricultural technologies and solutions, takes place simultaneously (23-25 February 2026) at the heart of the SIA.
The SPACE (Salon des Productions Animales Carrefour Européen, Rennes, annual in September) is the world's leading event for livestock farming. The 2025 edition recorded 102,528 visitors (a record), including 14,011 international attendees from 125 countries, and 1,230 exhibitors from 40 countries. It covers every animal sector (cattle, pig, poultry, sheep, goat, rabbit, aquaculture) across 11 sector-specific halls and 16 hectares of open-air space. Next edition: 15-17 September 2026.
The Sommet de l'Élevage (Clermont-Ferrand, annual in October, at the Grande Halle d'Auvergne) is another major event for the livestock farming sectors, complementing SPACE in its themes. The 35th edition will be held from 6 to 9 October 2026, with pastoralism in the spotlight. The Sommets d'Or awards there reward machinery innovations.
Innov'Agri is the leading open-field event, organised every two years (alternating between several regions). The 33rd edition in 2026 will take place in Haute-Garonne, at Ondes, on 9 and 10 September. Its aim is to bring farmers closer to suppliers under real operating conditions: open-field demonstrations, with techniques and equipment in action.
The SIVAL (Angers, annual in January, Parc des Expositions d'Angers) opens the agricultural calendar each year. It brings together more than 700 exhibitors from 55 nationalities and 25,000 professional visitors around specialised plant production: arboriculture, vegetable crops, viticulture and winemaking, horticulture, aromatic plants and cider production. Its programme features 155 experts and speakers.
SITEVI (Montpellier, every two years in November) is the international trade show for equipment and techniques for vines, olives and fruit. It covers the wine-growing and winemaking industry as a whole, from cellar equipment to precision technologies. It attracts exhibitors and visitors from many wine-producing countries.
Vinitech-Sifel (Bordeaux, every two years in December) is the leading international trade show for the wine-growing, arboriculture and market-gardening industries, with 800 exhibitors, 40,000 professionals and visitors from 70 countries. Next edition: 1-3 December 2026.
Regional and specialised trade shows
The richness of the French agricultural calendar also stems from its specialised regional formats. Tech Ovin is the leading trade show for the French sheep-farming industry. MedFEL (Perpignan, annual, 28-29 April 2026) is the only French trade show dedicated entirely to fruit and vegetables, with 250 exhibitors and 5,000 decision-maker visitors. The Salon de l'herbe et des fourrages (Poussay in the Vosges, biennial, 20-21 May 2026) offers a forage showcase of 600 micro-plots across 30 hectares, with 150 exhibiting brands. Les Terres de Jim (organised by the Jeunes Agriculteurs, Metz-Magny 11-13 September 2026) is the largest open-air agricultural festival in Europe.
In the organic segment, Millésime BIO (Montpellier, 26-28 January 2026, Sudvinbio, 33rd edition) is the world fair for organic wine, with an exclusively professional visitor base. La Terre est Notre Métier (FNAB network, Brittany, September) covers organic farming with 24 conferences. BIO N'Days (Alixan, 4 June 2026) is a business convention dedicated to organic products.
The major European trade shows
Agritechnica (Hanover, every two years in November, organised by the DLG) is the world's largest agricultural machinery trade show, with more than 470,000 visitors and 2,800 exhibitors. It is the absolute benchmark for equipment manufacturers and large cooperatives.
EuroTier (Hanover, every two years, DLG) is the counterpart to Agritechnica for the animal sectors: it brings together the players in global livestock farming around techniques, genetics and production technologies. It alternates with Agritechnica in the biennial Hanover calendar.
EIMA International (Bologna, every two years, organised by FederUnacoma) is the leading international agricultural machinery trade show for the Mediterranean market and emerging economies. Bologna is also the world capital of wine-growing and winemaking machinery.
Potato Europe is the leading event for the European potato industry, rotating between different producer countries. It brings together professionals in the production, storage, processing and equipment of potato cultivation.
Anuga (Cologne, every two years in October, Koelnmesse) extends into the food sector but remains a benchmark for the players in global agricultural distribution.
Beyond the trade shows
The agricultural federations (FNSEA, Jeunes Agriculteurs, chambers of agriculture) organise technical days and local agricultural fairs throughout the year. The Concours Général Agricole (CGA), integrated into the SIA, is a major quality showcase for producers. For the players in agritech, the French AgriTech programmes (Bpifrance) and the regional agripoles are complementary acceleration vectors. The specialised press (Reussir.fr, La France Agricole) publishes comprehensive calendars of trade shows by industry every year.
